So, I am thinking of getting a Custom Shop Modern Les Paul Modern. I have it down to two colors. Trans black or trans blue. They both play and sound really good. The blue plays a little better. Not so sure about a non traditional color although I do have a historic in sunburst and a Lifeson Les Paul in viceroy brown. I play mostly hard rock, progressive rock and metal. What is your vote?

I like a black LP - but not a blacktop one; I'm digging that blue, though. Not a color that would have popped into my mind on its own, but once I see the pic? Oh, yeah!

I love that trans black. How is it the other one plays better though? Different neck?

I used to say buy which one feels and sounds the best but I've come to appreciate how the looks affect one's perception of the guitar so don't discount that part too.

My thoughts exactly. That blue is stunning.

Neck feels a bit better. Sounds really good too. It is chambered, but holds a good amount of thump that chambered ones tend to lose.

Hey, it's better to be torn between two great guitars than to be frustrated at finding nothing you want to take home.

Oxford Gray, and of all the blues, BIC pen blue would be my last choice.

The black one is much more classy, I'd go with the black LP if I were you but I am not. ;)

If you just compare the tops, IMO it's a wash. However, I prefer the contrast of the black with reddish body. So my vote goes to black (you should add a poll to this thread).

Blue is my favorite color so that get my vote for sure but if the Ebony had a natural light back it would be game over and I'd go Ebony!
