This one right here...

Because it made the most beautiful noise my teenage ears had ever heard (on All The World's A Stage) and in the hands of that guy ^ was probably the single biggest reason I sought out my first Les Paul.

Besides just AL's tone (and haters be damned) I think the Norlin era produced the best sounding LP's in Gibson's history.

[Sorry for the tangent] Yeah, I'm an AL hater. I've got both his guitars, same serial number. AL230. Weird thing is that, though I do love Alex, I just wanted a 355 period. Went in to EM Shorts and found out I could get the Alex version $700 cheaper than a regular 355 so I snatched it up.

Then, when Gibby came out with the Axcess, since I am a tremolo freak and have always wanted a Floyd LP, I logged onto GC just to check out the new Axcess, did a search for Axcess [not Lifeson, just Axcess] and up pops a redburst Lifeson Axcess . . . S/N AL230. I $hit you not! Now, WTF would you do? So, completely by accident, by decree from the guitar gods, I have the matching set . . .

Sadly, since I'm sick, I need to get them off to a good home before I move on to a higher transition of entropy or however the song goes [??] . . . Leave it all to my nephew and he'll just take them to the closest pawn shop which will require me to come back and haunt him on a daily basis. Yeah, I know, you'll gladly take them off my hands but that's not what I mean . . .

I might have a new contender :D

:hmm:

Is that a Classic? What's all the stuff in the bags? Looks like extra PUPs, vintage tuners, screwless pick guard and other goodies. They come with it?

No a Standard.

The screwless pickguard comes with it. The Tunes are the G-Force which were removed for traditional ones.

Just picked it up today, infos here ;) http://www.mylespaul.com/threads/foregive-me-i-have-sinned-again.394384/page-3

Beautiful top on her. Curious, are you going to put the e-tuners back on? If memory serves, the only thing currently now making it not a "T" is the zero fret nut. Or do they now differentiate the "T" and "HP" with the chrome rings and knobs too? Titanium bridge saddles?

2016 Les Paul Studio Faded T. First time posting, first Gibson, first custom build where I tackled the wood (refinished the faded brown top to get it a bit lighter, more pop and more shine) and to me, the most beautiful Les Paul.

I also wanted to give a big thanks to this forum for the tons of info, links, methods, tricks and inspiration during my build.

Good work!! I may not love the colour or the grain but I'm really digging the matt satin finish.

I'm really interested on this subject: what's the neck like, did you sand it down and oil it for satin smoothness? Also, do you reckon you are compromising on protecting your instrument from humidity and regular wear and tear?

I've heard that faded finishes on a Les Paul usually improve the tone of the guitar (e.g. the Larry Corsa mod). I have a Trad 14 (see pic below) but the thick finish gets on my nerves as my hand can't slide normally like it does on my ther guitars (I have tried rubbing it vigoursly , cleaning it with lighter fluid, putting it in the sunshine for hours) . . . Do any readers know if there's a London or UK based 'Larry Corsa' guy out there? Thanks for sharing bud!

The nitro finish is pretty thin on these faded studios, the mahogany grain still shows through. I didn't refinish the back though, only the front, and it's quite a bit shinier than the pic shows. Because the finish is thin enough on the neck it has a "woodsy" feel and to my novice hands, feels pretty nice. I can't compare tone to another LP but it blows all of my other guitars away.

Here is the creme de la creme of a beautiful Les Paul, IMHO, YMMV...

This snow sparkled beauty owned by @crazytrain513 who will hopefully stop in and take a bow!

More goodness from the Oddfellow thread! Thanks CrazyT!

Humbled as always DarrellV!

You'll be sad to know I just recently sold her! But incoming NGD in the works.

Although I do agree that in a beauty contest, nothing ever will top that ^ for me

Sad day, I know! In the end, it looked more beautiful than it sounded and I finally had to accept it :/

PS - The Office is my favorite TV show of all time so that Michael Scott meme really hit it out of the park!

Wow! really! I don't even know who that is, it just said what I wanted so I grabbed it! LOL!!!:laugh2::laugh2:

Shame, but ultimately it is your choice and I'm sure you didn't buy it for a wall hanger so.... (sniff) :sadwave:

In the automotive modding and hot rodding world we use to say that 'paint and chrome won't get you home'... :hmm:

Seems like a bit of the same.... ;)

I have to daily fight the urge to buy an epiphone koa wildcat...
They have the 60s epi headstock and gold p90s...
If it had inlays then I would own it...and it would be my first epiphone..

The 2014 & the dreaded 2015's featured the "59 Tribute Humbuckers" These were technically BB's but with AL2 magnets and extra winds on screw coil (BB's extra winds are on the slug coil). Think 57's but a little more fluid. below is a clip of my Trad played by the gent I bought it off.

Gibson web page explaining the ides behind the 59 Humbucker
http://www.gibson.com/news-lifestyl...magic-of-59-and-the-59-tribute-humbucker.aspx

I didn't know that. If I heard this video though and didn't know it I would think 57s. Though I'm a bit more classic rock still, that is my tone though! Good stuff!
