Since the airing of the "GET BACK" Documentary I have been on this mission to get all the guitars that were in the documentary, and finding a cost effective Les Paul husk that I could work with was a one year search resulting in finding one one Ebay ($850), though it had a very crude headstock repair.

I did all the work myself

With the Lucy Project now complete see the below summary.

Although the UV lamp barely did anything and didn't want that to turn into a 6 month adventure, I just decide to go with the guitar as is. Really happy with headstock repair even though I wasn't able to completely mask the repair, it still looks better than it did in its original cosmetic state.

Working with nitrocellulose lacquer was much easier than I thought it would be, just as long as you follow StewMac's instructions to the tee, and also wear PPE and use in a well ventilated area.

Since I had all the electronics and hardware, all I needed to buy was the lacquer kit from Stewmac and TRC. Total for the guitar a tad over $1100

thanks mate!!!

I hit the the headstock with 12 coats of nitro clear lacquer over a 5 day span and let it cure 14 days. Since I was a rookie with nitro I used 1000 grit with spirits for wet sanding. Stewmac stated 600 grit for leveling the nitro but I think that would be more for an experienced professional.

does anybody have a silk screen kit to put the Les Paul signature back on the headstock?

Great job. Was never into an all-cherry Les Paul Standard, but I really like yours.

Wow you are the fifth beatle!

A man after my own heart, my first “proper” guitar was a casino because of JL, and to see a collection like that brings a tear to a glass eye.

LOL!!! I wish...

Funny thing is I have come full circle.... I was hooked on the Beatles all through grade school and junior high, especially with piano being my first instrument (started when I was 5) and by the time I was in third grade I could play every Beatles song on piano.

However it was cold fall day in October of 1976 (I was 12), and my brother took me to Pasadena City Civic College to see a band called Van Halen, and sure enough this skinny dude with long black hair with a white Les Paul blasting out the craziest guitar sound I have ever heard, I just forgot about everything I had previously learned musically, and from that point I had an identity crisis until I was 19... lol........... Now I'm back listening / playing to the Bealtes, Stones and other forms of 60's Rock.... lol.
