I have a decent size Instagram account, so I get a lot of drive by feedback on my guitars. A lot of it, will echo prevailing themes we see here. Theories about wood, weight relief, tone, etc.

The latest comments I've received, have been towards a stellar Norlin era Studio Custom... and Custom Shop vs USA.

A few days ago, I posted a pic of one of my USA Gibson, and someone commented, "I don't know why you like the USA line so much, with the Custom Shop stuff you have?"

And it got me to thinking...

If I had to liquidate my LPs, and was told I could keep 2... what would they be?

After, really not much thought... I thought of these 2.

My 2016 Traditionals. Bought the Honeyburst in 2016, at a blowout sale. The Sunburst used, a week ago.

The two represent everything I want a LP to be. One has a big fat neck, the other is not quite a slim. Still has some girth. Both sound like an LP should sound. Both, stunning looks... in my eyes.

Probably the 2 best bargains I've snagged.

But, I could sell everything else... make a good chunk of money, and still easily scratch the LP itch... without having a Custom.

Though, you can have my Customs, when you pry them from my cold, dead fingers. :slap:

Now, why couldn't Henry J just keep doing this?

My wife has standing orders that if there is a fire and she can only grab 2 guitars, it's my PRS DGT and Edwards black Custom.

I think 2016 was a great year for Traditionals. Mine is 8 pounds and superb, and I’ve never heard of anyone who has one from that year who doesn’t love it.

Mine is in my avatar.

I only have a heavily modified '13 Tribute GT with Mini humbuckers and a '14 Melody Maker. The Tribute would be the fire save LP. Now, I have other guitars that might be more worthy of saving if time and my ass is of the essence...

My number one is a stock 07 classic...
496/500 which everybody hates...

I love them so much I put them in a 2016 HP blank from stratosphere....

Anyhow, my wife gave me this as a complete surprise so that may bias me but it’s my one and only number 1 and it’s not even close....

Nothing special about it except I love the sound, paint and depth of the inlays(people on MLP call them snot)

Anyhow, i play it at least 5 days a week passing over much more expensive models

The only thing not stock is the vibramate bigsby and nickel covers...

Yeah. My 2016 traditional in HB made me sell my R8. Don't get me wrong, Wouldn't mind my old R8 back, but the '16 Traditionals are just outstanding models. Mine even had a broken neck when I bought it. Still sold the R8.

When I bought my R9, it had Sheptone Brian Kahanek humbuckers. Liked them enough to ask if he could recreate Shaws. Says he's wound a few for some guys, so I asked for a set.

Probably be a few weeks though.

Think I'm going to put them in the Sunburst, and the 57s from the Trad, in an '01 Custom.

Brian Kanahek, for this wondering.

I love your 2 regular US LPs good looks and tone thats pretty STANDARD with them. Seriously there were only 2 models in the 50s and people seemed to enjoy them and still do. :acoustic: ,

Realized not everyone has signatures on. When I talk about liquidating LPs... It'd be newsworthy.

And I'd be passing on some desirable Pauls. This is the latest inventory of what I have.

GUITARS: '84 Gibson Les Paul Studio Custom, '85 Kramer Baretta - American, '90 Les Paul Standard, '01 Gibson Les Paul Custom Black Beauty, '04 Gibson Les Paul Standard LE - 198/275, '06 Gibson Les Paul Custom - '68 RI, '06 Gibson Les Paul R9 VOS, '06 Fender American Deluxe Telecaster, '07 Gibson Flying V, '13 Gibson SG - Angus Young Signature, '13 Ibanez Destroyer, '14 Gibson Les Paul Studio Pro, '15 Gibson Les Paul True Historic 1957 'Black Beauty', '15 Gibson Les Paul Standard LE - Golden Pearl, '16 Gibson Les Paul Traditional T x 2, '17 Gibson Les Paul Classic, '18 Gibson Les Paul Classic x 2

P.S... No, I'm not remotely thinking of liquidating. I might move the Studio Pro, when/if I get a white Custom.
