Honestly, for what you're trying to achieve, S Gear might be the best thing out there. The LePou stuff has a Marshall sim and it's good too; you might just try loading that up with some good IRs and see where it gets you. It's free, after all. Amplitube 4 IS better, and I think you can upgrade for a nominal fee, but I don't know if it's worth the cost to you if you didn't like 3 that much.

For what it's worth though, I've been thru a lot of different modelers and sims, and the higher priced you go, the more 'amp like' the feel is.

I realize that for a lot of people an AxeFx or a Kemper is out of reach, and even the Helix is well over $1,000, but that's where the money goes, flexibility and dynamics.

The sims I pointed you at are awesome and well worth the cost, but I really don't know if you're going to do better than S Gear for that type of effect, as far as nuances and what not, until you spend more $.

It sounds like you've got some solid gear to mess with but as we all know, tone and feel is subjective. What works for me might not work for you and vice versa. My advice would be to try the free stuff first, and then do as much research as you can. Talk to people here, watch YT vids on stuff you're interested in, and make sure you hit a bunch, not just one or two. A lot of them are heavily processed and sound nothing like just the standalone sims.

Thank you for sharing this info. I loaded my DAW and saw where I still had Revalver, so I played with it some. I was able to get pretty good sounds, however, I then started up s-gear again. It could just be the presets out of the box are very good (to me), but s-gear was so much more sensitive in "feel". It was immediate.

Just realizing that you can mix all of these things together is a "step" forward for me. I downloaded some of the free stuff and will see if I can figure it all out. Studio guys probably know exactly how to get all of working. I just want to play right now. :) :)

The Bias FX Desktop is cutting out every so many seconds, so I can't really test it out anymore to do a real comparison. I do think it was a 2nd place for me.

Looks like the Bias FX sale ends next week at $69, but I decided to hold off. The LePou amps mixed with some of the IRs in that 7 Deadly Sins pack is a ton to go on. Using NadIR with the IRs is giving me a ton of options. Overwhelming actually. It didn't take long to get a good tone and then I found the TSE808 tube screamer and the fun is on.

I am using Ableton Live 9 Lite that came bundled with some other hardware I purchased. It is a lot to figure out.

Do you know where I can find a good Delay VST that is 64 bit? I found quite a few free VSTs out there, but they all seem to be 32 bit, so they don't show up. It seems Ableton comes with Delays and Reverbs and such, but the settings are WAY over my head. They are studio technical. :)

Also, beware of Malware! I downloaded one that was supposed to be a link to a SoundHack delay and it downloaded a ZIP that reported a Trojan.

Thank you.

Sure do. Try this one, I really dig it and it's free until March.

Also, check out the Two Notes WOS III for IRs. I've been messing with that reamping some stuff lately and really dig the tones. You have to register and you can mess with it free for 30 days, and after that for full functionality you have to buy one cab IR; I think they're like $6. Totally worth it; you can move mics, blend IRs, and there are a ton of presets that you can adjust in real time.

Also, have some more free stuff. The first two are paid versions, but his free stuff is good too, and it's further down on the page. I really like his 5150 and his Randall Solar:

Thank you again, Steinmetzify. I keep running into the 32-bit thing. I guess I will need Jbridge?

Good thing I had some metal stuff ready. My son, who just turned 13, seems to like 80's type metal and I was showing him how to make some noise with my Charvel Model 6. :) :) :)

Welcome brother. Yeah, DAW bridge might be necessary, unless you want to switch. I use Reaper, so no worries on 32/64 bit.

Oh...I didn't know switching to Reaper would fix that also... We need to turn this thread into a 1st post FAQ. :) :)

Yup, it's a really powerful DAW, and it's cheap as hell compared to its contemporaries, that's why I spotlighted it in the 1st post.

You're doing well, asking all the right questions. Keep it up, man.
