I was thinking about these in the shower the other day (am I sick?)... The older style ones are harder, thicker plastic, almost impossible to crack under all sorts of abuse. The newer ones used softer, thinner plastic, but were hollow inside. It's semi-possible to crack the newer/hollow style ones, but they're still pretty rugged. Which offers better protection for the instrument, though? I almost feel like the Gen 3 ones might be better protection in that they'd be better at absorbing impacts, even to the point of cracking the outer layer, whereas the Gen1-2 cases are so damned rigid, they'd tend to telegraph the impact through to the guitar. Thoughts?
