One of my favorite guitarists! Awesome tone, great symphonic leads, and a true innovator. And, as great as he was....I gotta admit, I don't know if there have been too many bands out there that had as much musical aptitude and raw talent as Queen.

I have to admit...every time I hear dual guitar leads, it makes me think of May. If I ever get married....I'd love to have his arrangement played....:D

Thanks for posting this. Brian has been one of of my fave guitar heroes since I started playing.

He's probably the smartest player alive today. :D

He's just a class act all around. From all reports I hear, a warm, funny human being as well.

Incidentally, he picked up his PhD. a couple of years back. In physics, I believe. No slouch intellectually either.

He is such a unique player--his approach to harmolodic leads is out of this world.

And the sound itself...that tone...also so unique. So fat and warm and juicy.

He's one of those cats that, when you hear him playing, you KNOW instantly who it is.

Nope. There ain't two of him. That's for sure.

Yup. And amazing band too. That's one of the things I admire about May...as great as he is, and outstanding as his leads are, he still serves the song and the team, you know?

It's not like "here's a hot shit guitarist with some guys backing him up"--Queen were just one of a kind.

I'm in for some BM appreciation ..... been a longtime fan since their first release..... I can't tolerate Queen + Paul Rodgers, since it's only May and Taylor remaining of Queen (half), and, as talented as he may be, Paul Rodgers ain't no Freddie.
He's probably the smartest player alive today. :D
Maybe .... at least maybe the smartest pro player. I love his very unique sound ("tone" I guess many would say, but I'm over that damn word...)
I'm glad he's still active and all, but ...... truthfully, I'd rather hear Queen + George Michael...... Rodgers' "crotch rock" vocals don't quite jibe for me..... just my $0.002usd.

DOH !!!! Sentry beat me to it...heh

Queen was and always will be my favorite band of all time. Brain is an awesome guitar player. I have had the pleasure in meeting him once on a famous UK programme called Top Of The Pops. He was there because of his long term girlfriend on stage. He is so laid back and friendly. A genuine guy too. Thanks for putting up the videos! :dude:

I absolutely didn't think I would see a thread in the Les Paul forum for Brian May appreciation...and wow here it is.

My list of favorites regarding music have always gone to Queen.
Favorite drummer: Roger Taylor
Favorite guitarist: Brian May
Favorite band: Queen
Favorite guitar: The Red Special, Gibson Les Paul Custom (Black) and 1961 Gibson SG
Favorite Song: Oh...this is so hard... Somebody To Love, '39, March of the Black Queen, Brighton Rock (Live Killers)

You get my point...I may be Telegram_Sam because I want to play like Marc but my heart goes to Queen...They move me, they make me laugh, they make me cry... Love Live Queen!

Well, yeah....we listen to all kinds of folks on this forum. :D

May really is one of the greatest ever though. I can't say enough good things about his accomplishments as a composer or his skills on the guitar.
