Hello all, I'm a farily new user here at MLP forums, and since I have an Epiphone LP I thought the appropriate place to post this would be in the Epi forums but this includes ALL forums on MLP.

I started coming here just prior to buying my first Les Paul Guitar and found it was a great source of information. Since then I have learned SO many things that may have taken months or years to learn if I ever learned them without great resources such as this. I've only been playing 15 months and the going is slow for me as I'm no younster at 54.

I have found the people here are class folks who are more than willing to help a new guy like myself, and there are so many more folks who have posted great stickies to help learn from covering all aspects of playing guitar. This site has definately helped to flatten out my learning curve more than I can really say and it has been a huge help to me!

I just wanted to say I am really glad that I have found the MLP forums and am really greatful for all of the good people who contribute and help make life easier for us new guys. The stickies are very informative and there is so much knowledge here that is freely shared, I can't even estimate how much I have learned here.

I just wanted to put my two cents in and express my thanks and appreciation to the MLP Forum, moderaters, and users all, thank you for all of the help and great information!

Sincerely,

McCloud9

That's a class statement for sure my friend. BTW, I got a year or two on ya, I'm not saying how many but like you, I've learned a lot of things I didn't know since I joined MLP. I started learning guitar when I was a youngster and sometimes I feel ashamed of myself for not being better informed over the years. This is a great forum with some fine people. It's always a pleasure to meet members like yourself. Keep practicing! You're never to old to learn and you got yourself a fine Epi to do it with.

Welcome to the forums my friend. I, too, share the same sentiments. I had NO IDEA about the "mechanics" behind a guitar before I joined. And after I did, the information highway seems to have endless lanes. I paid attention to what I read and saw in videos, and it's helped me upgrade my LP with quality components, as well as having the courage to build projects like the two Strats that I have. Now, the guys have me mentally ready to build tube amps (I'm waiting for the parts to arrive any day now).

Even though that "rabbit hole" of guitar info runs really deep, a place like this helps our understanding of the nature and theory behind the guitar and amplification. This really IS a great place!

SJM, Thank you for your kind words! I will add to what you said about having a fine Epi to learn on...had it not been for the heads up on that classic 57 GT Sam Ash was selling which included the cool upgraded pups & electronics that yourself and others posted about I would have never got such a great bargain!

Mobprop667, RavenMadd, markerdown - I'm glad to know I'm in good company with regards to being "youth challenged"! That is good to know!

Markerdown, you said "may the Schwartz be with you" and I thought of Marty Schwartz who has a ton of great youtube lesson videos and he is one of my favorites to watch for online lessons! Could your reference be to the same person?

You are a young man. It makes me laugh when I hear you "children" talking about being old.... As far as I know, there is only one other member on this forum who is older than I am. That being said, I belong to another forum where I am just a kid.... one guy is 82.

McCloud.... where about in Oregon are you? My kids live in the Rogue Valley.

KP,

I am in the Portland area, much farther north than the Rogue valley.

And thank you for the perspective check on age! It is funny how perspective has a way of coming full circle to remind us of where we are in life. When I find myself thinking "young people these days, they have no respect for their elders" someone comes along to remind me just how true this is and that I better be respectful of MY elders LOL.

As an aside, I see you have a photo of Wyatt Earp as your avatar which I recognize. I've always been interested in history and espectially Wyatt's history, a couple of years ago my wife bought me "Wyatt Earp: The Life Behind the Legend, by Casey Tefertiller" which was an excellent read.

My son lived in Portland for 9 years before moving to Rogue Valley. He cooked at the Refectory and the Waterfront Café. Then he drove delivery truck for Fraz Bread. We have been in Portland numerous times.

I'm inclined to agree with you... i have an account over on another music forum and most of what I get in replies (if I get any) are from corksniffers... Not to say we don't have a fair share here, but everyone seems nicer here and MUCH more helpful (even the cork sniffers LOL - I mean that in the nicest way possible). :)

Ah, same situation as me. MLP's the best.
