Big fan of Alvin Lee, a very under appreciated musician. I remember back in the early 70's I saw a cover band do a very good rendition of "Goin' Home". I said to my girlfreind at the time, "I can't believe anyone could sound that much like Alvin Lee". She responded with "Yeah, he sings just like him"!

Of course I was thinking guitar, not voice but she was right - Alvin can really sing and this guy nailed that as well.

Here is a review :
Review - Alvin Lee - Still on the Road to Freedom

The original 'On the Road to Freedom' is still one of my favorite albums. Especially like the George Harrison cover they did of 'So Sad'.

When I was a kid I had a 66 Gibson 335...and after seeing Woodstock it got a peace sticker....my friends and I were all into Clapton,Hendrix ect....one of the big discussions was who was faster....Alvin Lee or Johnny Winter....IMO I preferred Alvin's tone....no disrespect to Mr.Winters skills.

I think the upcomming release of this CD is a good reason for bumping this thread.

Heritage? Wow, never seen that.

Heritage made an Alvin Lee Tribute 535 in the early ´90´s. Not many produced.
I am the happy owner of one of them :thumb:

Heritage 535 Alvin Lee Signature Model

Here is mine to the right. I have customized it with stickers Alvin style, aged stop tail, ect. It is a great guitar.
To the left is my Big Red #38 of 50 aged and signed and in the middle an Epi Noel Gallegher that I turned into Epi Alvin Lee :)

It that a '70s Master Volume Super Reverb?
The 45 watts?

I have one like that, converted to AB763 (Blackface) circuitry. The pull knob has been transformed into a "boost" from the tremolo preamp if I don't use those inputs. Gives it a slight "edge".
These amps are just great!

Congrats on your collection!

I had a 76 Super Reverb. Sounded great if you didnt use the master volume, but that thing was beastly heavy, like 85 lbs heavy.

Also always loved Alvin's singing voice. I mean this in admiration, but I always felt he sounded 'blacker' than any white man ever.
