I really prefer my LPs to have a snappy note attack. Many Les Pauls tend to sound mushy with a dull low-end for some reason and those ones are useless to me because the lows will be lost in the mix. No amp setting gonna help. It's got to be in the wood in the first place.

I think this 59 Replica captures the 'Tele on steroids' thing well. Interestingly I can detune this baby a whole step and then further drop the low-E string another step and it will still stay tight - just with regular 10-46 Ernies...

I agree.

I'm not sure that video is really a testament to a spankier guitar sound as much as it is a display of amp settings catered to that sound.
