Dies at his home, 84 years old.

I dug this guy. He always gave a few very interesting facts about the film or its actors TCM was about to show, which always made the film just that much more interesting to watch. Never went on and on about it, never boring, never wasted your time. Yet his comments often gave the viewer some thing to look for, or perhaps a different light or perspective to watch the film from.

One of the few "hosts" of a program that I didn't FF through.

We'll save you a seat, Robert.

He was the best and really loved film. He will be missed.

TCM will likely give Mr. Osborne their usual classy and touching good bye. God speed Robert.

Wife and I love the old films. We both liked him for every reason the Lt. said.

Yeah, the newer ones have their own style, but not like his!

He'll be missed.

I like Ben Mankiewicz, too; his delivery is much like Mr. Osborne's.
I'm sure Ben would admit where he got it.
Robert Osborne convinced me to watch many movies I might have ignored.

Interviews with guests--- he asked the right questions and listened to the answers.

Moral:

Don't pick up hitchhikers

Tip:

If you're in someone's home who displays "mobiles" hanging from the ceiling made of odd animal parts and pieces, ..leave quickly.

A long time ago I was sick in bed, in my early 20's I guess bored out of my skull and I surfed over to TMC as he was introducing The Ghost and Mrs. Muir. He made it sound so interesting that I "Mr. blood-guts-boobs-explosions" actually watched the whole show and literally drew tears in the final scene. Been watching him ever since. Rest brother.
