New at NAMM this year, TC Electronic have brought out some new pedals that are very reasonable in price but have a ton of features.

The delay is great looking so far.
* Stereo in and out jacks

* True bypass

* Tap Tempo

* 7 second delay

* 9 delay types

* 40 second looper

* Internal DIP switch to toggle between true bypass or buffered

* Internal DIP switch for KILL DRY function

Cool stuff! The Flashback delay seems that it can pretty much do what my TC Nova Repeater does (minus the looper feature) in a smaller package. But I like my Repeater far too much to get any buyer's remorse now!

What leaves me completely un-interested though, is the ''toneprint'' feature. It looks far more than marketing hype than anything else. So, you can have Doug Aldrich's ''signature'' delay automatically set in there. So what? :rolleyes:You get to have so many features with the pedal as it is, that you can get pretty close to any ''signature'' delay sound.

I saw the new TC Electronics series of pedals and I got all excited (personally, I would be more interested to their analog distortion and OD pedal - no toneprint feature there). However, I cannot seem to find them anywhere available at the moment to check the prices. Any idea...?

Not available just yet. They were shown first time at NAMM.

Seems pretty good prices on these for the casual player.
The Tone Print thing does alot more than you think. I can change the paramaters of the control knobs far more than you can with a manual tweek. So to select a tone print of a particular player, could give you a tone that you haven't got available on the pedal alone. Also, you can tweek this yourself on your laptop. Definately something new to look at though.

uber cool i think they've outdone themselves and perhaps everyone else with the number of possibilities and functions on this pedal. on top of that, it runs on 9v!

I'm not sure if the audio tapping function is a good idea though - 2 seconds to hold down on the switch. might not be suitable if you need to change tempo "on the fly" between songs. thats the only thing that might hold me back from replacing my dd5 with this.

Very interesting prices indeed! For the toneprint, perhaps I will have a better look at it, up close and personal. But for my tastes, these pedals seem packed with features to keep me busy as they are....:cool:

Well, then perhaps you should consider their Nova Repeater. Both tap-tempo and strum-tempo. Unless you need the looper (that the Flashback has)or the presets that the Nova Delay does.

I always wonder about a delay pedal with so many features. To me, the settings of a delay should just be the number of echoes and the time between each echo. Much more than that and the pedal usually becomes mediocre. Just my $.02.

I disagree.

The dynamic delay function on the Nova Delay is fantastic. I expected it to be more gimmicky but it's incredibly useful when you want strong delays but want to keep things from getting muddy.

A little bit of modulation on a delay is also really handy. And not having a mix level would be crippling.

I also really like both the analog and digital modes on mine, plus the excellent tone control. The ability to choose the color of the repeats makes a lot of difference.

A mix control is essential though.

I just bought a Wampler Analogue Echo and i now realise that i am a 21st digital boy. :mad: So, that will make way already for the TC Flashback.
