Been giving serious thought lately to approaching one of the local watering hole owners about a open jam night.

They only have three or four drunk locals most evenings in this middle of nowhere place so I'm sure they'd welcome a dozen or so musicians coming in and buying beverage and chow while making noise.

I was slider munky for a club blues jam night for awhile... On Wed so it didn't interfere with weekends.... Place would pack out with musicians, some with wives, and popcorn munchers... Made the owner some good bank between bar and kitchen....

Use a sit-in list w/ time/song limits... with a musician in charge of the list. Trust me on that. No really really trust me on that... I strongly suggest you trust me on that.... It can Charlie Foxtrot on you in a flash without control.... Still could be an occasional fuxor but usually smooth if they know the rules before they climb their ass up there...

The stories alone make it worth it, but validation from a venue can be satisfying too. I wish I had an act together to play shows.

Meat, sounds like a nice adventure. I believe all life is dark comedy ,I don't cry over war and famine....yyyyyyaaannnnnn....no,if I was prone to tears I would weep over MY LIFE PROBLEMS , FUZZ pedals that eat batteries, shoelaces that break when I'm in a hurry....IMPORTANT stuff. I just got new glasses. I like the Buddy Holly look, who is cooler than Buddy? Not some pissants in " trendy" glasses. My drummer is battling cancer,I tell him EVERY time I see him DONT DIE! Instilling this in his mind,I hate platitudes, he very well may be toast....if that happens I will find a " proxy" body to let him " inhabit."

You actually get paid sometimes,I NEVER get paid,THEY can't afford me,my fee is $678,000 for 40 minutes....a bargain.

affordability has nothing to do with the reason you do not get paid Fezz......
:cool2:
Hardcore ,it is jealousy, I write catchy songs, have a POWER drummer,a popstar bassist +stunt guitarist.....no Love you yeah yeah yeah.........just stellar ORIGINAL songs sung by a true stud who will bleed buckets.....pfffttttttt....instead....let's go on a ROCK cruise......rub elbows with washups.......have them seduce your pimply gal......people pay for this.......luckily,I get to be real close to my favorite ROCKER= me all life long....you wouldn't believe the fun we/I have...for free....HALLEFEZZZAASSA...

I am 55 and do not carry a single red cent of cash. Ever.

If I saw you with the tip can and liked you enough to come see you again, I would withdraw a $20 to add to the can at the next gig.

Your economics sound like working musician economics to me. Unfortunately.

Your post and Steve's make me realize I don't want anything to do with the drinking crowd anymore, ever again.

You can find me safe on social medial. I'm just a modern guy. :thumb:
Its this damn habit attached to a guitar and a stage ,, I can’t seem to give up the life style , Its a first love that has been the love and bane of my life for 45 years now ,,, its a love /hate relationship .. Love the stage ., love the audience , love feel of the guitar , but hate the travel, the late nights , and the booking ..
