Both of them, but I'm sexist, so I put the responsibility on the male driver to deal with the female driver's unwillingness to change lanes on a highway with big trucks on it.

Been in that guy's position plenty of times on the 5 here in California, 2 lanes each way, lots of semis in the right lane. If you rear-end someone here, regardless of the cause, you're at fault, so I never, ever, EVER tailgate. I wait until I've got a good opening that's safe for everyone, and then I bust out of the cluster.

Nobody ever gets flipped off while I'm passing them, either. I'm busy driving, ffs.

Would have been a different story if a traffic officer saw her pissing about with her 'phone while driving, or her obvious distraction caused her to lose control of the car though!

I used to work recovery, and have seen first hand the results of people's carelessness with vehicle. I still have nightmares about some of the things I've seen. Drive safe, drive defensive. No-one is invincible.

For that matter, why couldn't the speeder simply go on his way, instead of pacing her speed to remain right along side of her for the expressed purpose of flipping her off multiple times?

This video amuses me for one simple reason that anyone who's driven a pickup truck for more then 10 minutes knows...

It's real easy to 'skip' the back tires on a pickup truck, since there's virtually no weight on them pressing down.

...real easy. Which is why this dumbass lost control of his truck.

Also notice the entire time he's flipping her off, he's staring at her and not the road.

And because she used her phone, the cops found him and charged him,..not her.

Generally, there'd be no argument from me, using a cellphone while driving, even hands-free, is a bad move, and I don't do it. I just pull over if it's that freakin' urgent. Defensive Driving is EXACTLY where it's at.

Hard call, but I would argue that using a cellphone in that context was borderline appropriate, as she was documenting another driver who clearly turned out to be dangerous. What still disturbs me, is how much time she apparently spent looking backwards while driving.

Women drive like that, though, and had I been in that guy's situation, there'd be nothing for her to get excited about one way or the other, so I laughed out loud when he lost control of the vehicle. Sexist? Yes, clearly. But, that's part of the reason I have a clean driving record with no points.

I absolutely despise people playing with their phones while driving, but in this instance I can understand.

...if nothing else maybe she was just hoping to get a look at his license plate. Who knows.

Yeah, she probably isn't looking through the viewfinder, video is too long for that to last! I still think she's at least as big an asshole as he is. She's obstructive, distracted and tries to block his overtake by accelerating, raising the speed of both vehicles to the point where he loses it and crashes. "Caught on camera, BUDDY!" it goes two ways.


edit - in addition to being an ex roadside recovery driver, I do statutory safety (MoT) inspections on vehicles (whole other can of worms!) and have a clean licence for cars, motorcycles and trucks. My brother in law is an ambulance paramedic and between us we have stories that would stop most people ever going near a road ever again.

edit - I'm sorry if that seems harsh, but the video proves my point. If she didn't speed up he might not have crashed, which brings me back to the waving a loaded gun analogy. Rule 1 of driving is that you don't do anything that makes another vehicle have to change speed or direction because of you.
