Just noticed this 2015 that someone modified with new tuners and pickups at a local GC. It's priced cheap. I'm guessing it has to do with whatever the hell he did to the headstock. Maybe put it in a vice grip?

GForce removed.. left the fabulous brass (and adjustable) nut in place, hex's look too tight. So, to avoid migrains and sedation, sold back to GC for dirt. "In my humble and unqualified opinion".. K??

What's the best way to remove this robot tuner?

Coal Chisel obviously!

It's a Standard, and it's priced under $1500.00 now. So I suppose some one could salvage it.

So, have you like, you know, played it? I'd at least want to pick it up and strum on it a few minutes before plopping down that much cash.

If you love how it plays just go with it, or maybe talk them down a little.

If you don't love how it plays it's not worth $50.

Why does anybody need to change the tuners? All 6 of my LP historics have Gotoh replica tuners on them, from the factory. They all stay in good tune.

Some say, "I need to add mass (weight) to the neck (headstock) because the neck's too light". May I suggest, adjust your playing style a little bit?

I do not like looking at the back of an R9 headstock and seeing those exposed holes that happen when changing to Grover's.

I've heard that adding mass to the headstock is beneficial to sustain and tone, with my tin ears how would I know?

It's a personal thing, I know. I'll keep my stock tuners for now.

I doubt anyone with the G-force needs to add weight - hence the removal.
Many have found it not to auto tune well - hence the removal.

.

The more old instruments I see, the more I become convinced that an "authentic" reissue should be fitted with stock tuners at one assembly station, which are the removed and replaced with Grovers at the next station....
