so i grabbed this 1959 National Val Trol husk and got it to playable condition with some cheap parts but i dont have any P90 pups in any guitars and thought it would be fun for this one.

the issue is that i would prefer that it is surface mount as i dont want to route anything. i did buy a pup ring from a guy in France that makes repros for the Nationals / Supros which would work but i think they are an off the wall size.....so surface mount may be easier...let me know what you think.

btw second pic is pup ring that fits, but any surface mount can work without it...

How much space do you have between the guitar top and the bottom of the strings, at the location(s) you want the pickup(s) mounted?

yea its tight for a surface mount but this neck sits high off the body...here is a pic that might help

looking for a neck p90 pickup

you can see stock threaded holes are about 2 inches apart for a supro which i just can't face paying $200 for a 60 yr old pickup that might sound like pennies rattling in a beer can, maybe i am wrong but i dont want to take that chance

dont need to use or match the stock threads as i am willing to drill as i did for the present pup just to get it to playable condition...

The typical p90 is a bit over .8 of an inch from top of screws

Lollar sells a,P90 shim kit with numerous sizes, including an oversized shim that covers a humbucker route.
Cool guitar, good luck!
