I was hoping you guys could help me out. I'm looking at the Studio and the Standard Les Paul and can't decide witch to go with. I'm leaning toward the Studio as I found one for $299 the Standard I found is $429. my question is these two compared, is there a noticable difference in build quality and sound between them? Enough to justify the price difference?

I believe the main (I'm afraid to say "only") difference is the binding. Some people don't mind having no binding on their Studios, some can't live without it.

Purely cosmetic differences - if you don't mind the lack of binding, save yourself some money!

I own both; the standard has a maple cap giving it greater mids; the studio is slightly slimmer than the standard, it is much lighter but has a thinner sound.

I think they are both good but I prefer the sound of the standard.

I personally prefer the standard. But just like a Gibson, the main difference between a Studio and a Standard is no binding and pick ups. *Not sure about Epiphone Studio pickups though.

I have the Studio Goth and a Custom - my Studio is the same thickness as my Custom, and is a little bit heavier.

Better... value? Granted, the differences are mostly cosmetic, but the "lower" end models aren't usually the "better" guitars. If you meant value, then sure, when it comes down to it the Studio is a better value. I'd rather have the Standard, if $$ isn't an issue.
