I went into Guitar Center today to check out a Classic Custom. It was an Antique Natural and absolutely gorgeous. It is exactly what I was looking for. I played it a bit and it was nice. It was a cool guitar but I didn't just fall in love with it...well, except for it's appearance. Damn it was beautiful! After I put the Classic Custom back up, I grabbed a Studio Faded in Worn Brown and it was really a beautiful guitar. As I was tuning it up, I already knew it was a really, really nice guitar. I have a 60s Tribute and love the unfinished feel of the neck on it and felt the same way about the Studio Faded. It had that same great acoustic sound that my 60s Tribute has and was just as resonant. I actually enjoyed it more than the Classic Custom. I do want a LP with binding and everything but I seem to be drawn to the LP Studios. I tell ya, all the cheaper LPs I play just seem to be killer guitars. I just might have to pick one of these Studio Faded guitars up pretty soon.

They feel plasticy to me. I dont think they are a custom shop guitar. And from what I learned today, only custom shop guitars are made here in the states. All others are only assembled here.

Try a Traditional Pro at GC. They have the satin neck/back and 60s neck that you like but a great gloss top and binding (and coil taps as a bonus).

I was going to try one but ran out of time. The guy was off helping someone else and I had to get moving. I don't dislike the gloss neck but I really do like the satin necks. The Classic Custom was just gorgeous but those Studios keep surprising me. I used to own a Standard a few years ago and it was great so I have been thinking about them and the Traditional models as well. Part of me says to buy the Studio Faded now and down the road pick up a used R7.

I LOVE my studio faded! I've never owned an expensive Les Paul but I've played quite a few. My studio faded was my 3rd LP and I wanted to play some of the more expensive models before getting it... I needed to make sure I wanted a 3rd inexpensive LP since I could always downsize to one really killer LP. Well, for me the studio faded is just awesome. It just feels and sounds perfect for me.

So I now have 3 faded Gibsons and I absolutely love the feel and sound of them.

Since this pic I've put a blank truss rod cover, creme plastics and gold speed knobs on the studio faded. I think it looks awesome - I can't wait to get some new pics of it.

Great looking group of LPs you got there!

I know what you mean. I fully went into GC in love with the Antique Natural and still love the looks of it. Based solely on looks, that is the one I want right now but I just liked the Studio Faded better in terms of playability, feel, and sound...luckily, I love the looks of the Studio Faded models as well!

The Faded series feels plasticy to you?? Were you by any chance on acid when playing them? Can you post some proof/info about only customs being made in the US?

It Is.

I have a bunch of L.P.'s and just bought a Studio Faded in Blue just because
I liked the way it looked.
It is awesome. Right out of the box - perfect. Great wood, finish
and the setup was superb. Plays and sounds even better.

No the Classic Custom did. Haven t played a faded.
As for the not made in the USA, I got that from a Gibson employee, Whom I will not name as he is already waiting for the axe to fall after their 5 man head chop they did just a bit ago.

And let me add, if a guitar feels a way to me, that's my take on it. Could have been just that one guitar.

I hope you are wrong. If it's true maybe it should say assembled in the USA instead of made in the USA. That's gay as ass ...........

I have no way to prove or disprove ether way myself. I can only go by what was told. I question it myself being "Why the hell is the Gov. going after them for rosewood if they have stuff cut and carved in China?" Maybe necks are made or finished in the USA? ...."Is it only a few models?"
Trying to get more dirt without seeming like I'm relaying if ya know what I mean. I think this kind of info should be known to the buying public. Not that it matters being a good guitar is a good guitar no matter where its made.

I dont want to seem like a troll with all this, if someone wants to know who (No name though) I can tell you via PM. I can give you enough clues that you can judge for yourself.

I just thought I would find this thread and give a little update since I did end up buying another guitar. I already posted some pics in a new thread but figured I would put them here as well. I know I get interested in certain threads and like to see what the person ended up with so I figured I would show you guys what route I went.

I decided not to go with a Faded Studio although I really do like them. I ended up with this Traditional Goldtop.....

The multiple 'Gibson factory tours' videos on YouTube would seem to tell a different tale.
