Straplocks for your custom? Or another mechanism? Or, no change to original?

Just curious what folks use here, if anything. I do have some red rubber gaskets for fliptop home brew beer. Anyone trust these?

One concern I have is if the straplock bolts/screws match L/W of original? Thanks!

Schallers. That guitar is too expensive to accidentally drop it. I'm told the rubber beer bottle gaskets work really well, too. I think the only issue there is you can't easily remove the strap.

I’ve just used Dunlop Lok Strap retainer discs for the last 30 years and they work very well with no mods to my guitars needed

I don’t own a Custom, but do have an R7. The Schaller locks are great.

I use the Dunlop too. I just prefer the mechanism. I have not had issues with screws.

To be honest the manufacturers are not even consistent with screw type and length model to model anyway but luckily they usually get the thread spacing right so worst case is you might got a tiny amount deeper. Usually the screw that comes with the lock will swap out no problem if the stock screw doesn’t quite fit.

I have had straps pop out so I always use locks. I don’t on my acoustic but it’s so like I’m not worried about it.

A screw is never as well set as it is the first time it is put in. The friction at the tip makes all the difference.

I have seen too many locking systems rip out of the guitar onstage (I roadied in the 80s) to ignore it.

What's worked for me in 40+ years of Les Paul ownership is never taking my left hand off the neck.

I prefer the dunlop on my custom , the straps directly on the white finish will stain the guitar . I buy the same kind of screw that came with the guitar, grind the head down so it fits in the dunlop post .
