If steroids are illegal for athletes, shouldn't autotune be illegal for musicians?

Without steroids my gf would be dead.
She suffers from anaphylactic reactions (wasp/hornet sting can kill her).

She carries an auto-injector with adrenaline and a box of pills (steroids).

Yeay for steroids!!!!

I think they affect different individuals in different ways. I've seen guys on them who don't have the roid rage to the point of loosing control. Then again I had a buddy who pulled some guy out of his car window for honking his horn at him.

Took them years ago for some illness (can't remember what now....), but they certainly did induce some temprament changes...Not for the good either....!

I was given roids by my doctor to alleviate acute nerve pain emanating from my spine, and ended up with avascular necrosis in both hips. Steroids have not been kind to me, but under proper supervision, have saved lives. Roid rage is real. I've known several athletes who abused and exhibited enormous personality changes, and not for the better....

ok, first off we need to clear up some terminology. steroid refers to the 4-ring structure of the compound. most steroids are not anabolic steroids designed to mimic testosterone. so, the people answering the question by referring to the steroidal medications they've taken are not talking about the same thing. those will not induce 'roid rage'. anabolic steroids that mimic testosterone will. as a former college football player/current weightlifter i know/have known many steroid users and i can certainly testify to the mood changes i've seen people undergo while using (as well as many other negative side-effects). as someone with a graduate degree in medicinal chemistry i can tell you that there is a biological impetus for this behavior as well. I think the 'roid rage' phenomenon is a combination of physiological and psychological changes that occur while using steroids. reduced impulse control certainly does not help the psychological changes the user undergoes.

:hmm: Is that a fancy way of saying they get angry because they end up with small testicles?:D

among other reasons... and as far as the sexual side effects go, what's worse, the shrunken nuts or the impotence?

They rate about equal on the do not want scale with me.:thumb:

I have spent some time body building with heavy free weights but have never been tempted to go the lazy mans route. Plenty of healthy food and mind power are all that's needed unless you want to go for freakishly big imo.

I lost a younger second cousin years ago. He was about 25yo and died of a heart attack due to steroid abuse. Over here i think horse steroids are what's used the most in the local body building scene. Crazy.

I'm with Tommy. I worked in a large Gym/health club in the 80's.

I saw plenty of people go through many changes when it came to steroid abuse.

After a while, I could tell who the guys (and gals) were that we're juiced.

I had a friend that I ran around with that I know was using them. He slowly became a head case. I eventually stopped running around with him.

Not only did those that use steroids go through physical and phyisiological changes, some would develop odd ass habits /personality quirks. Many would turn almost OCD. It was an odd time for sure.

If youre an a-hole before most def. Overall you have to have self control and not listen to bro science. The largest danger is strain on the heart and tearing something most public folk only know what the media tells them. If done under proper supervision there is no nut atrophy or erectile dysfunction, quite the opposite in fact. Cabergoline, test, and hcg you will knock down a nut and have a piece of steel again in about 520 mins...poor girls

He was also a very big guitar collector. The Blue guitar albumn he produced is well worth seeking out.

I think Chinery's (with one "n") greatest contribution to guitardom was loaning axes
to Steve Howe and Martin Taylor for their Masterpiece Guitars album.....

"I called on Steve Howe, who is one of the most innovative guitar players in the world. He brought in a great jazz guitarist, Martin Taylor, and they had the use of the entire collection for the session. there are duets between an original C.F. Martin and an Orville Gibson, the D'Angelico and D'Aquisto Teardrops. And one fantastic side, "Blue Bossa," featuring all the Blue Guitars. Seventeen Tracks. It's a mindblower."

Patrons are hard to come by," says Stan Jay, "and what Scott Chinery has done is most unusual, because he has the financial resources to be a muse to the arts, and for the first time many of our best luthiers have been able to produce their finest work in comparison with everyone else's. The Blue Guitars project, on top of an already magnificent collection, is a joyous thing for those of us in the community of instrument lovers."End
