I think Star Wars is Mickey Mouse - wholesome, moral, predictable, over-exploited and completely unfunny - and Star Trek is Bugs Bunny - inventive, ironic, anarchic, clever and very funny.

The Disney/WarnerBros paradigm, incidentally, works for all sorts of things, once you start applying it. The whole world can be categorised duckly - Donald or Daffy.

Oh, yeah: the "challenged" third season, when Paramount/CBS cut the budget to nothing and they had to come up with episodes using existing studio costumes and backlot sets.

(As an aside, those uniforms are complete nonsense)

You couldn't be more wrong.

Star Trek and Star Wars are two of the largest fandoms in the world.

In some countries 'Jedi' is recognized as a religion.

SW and ST are extremely popular, for all ages.

Pop culture in general is extremely popular the world over. It's not kids paying Billions of dollars for these Avengers movies (for example.)

It is. Thank you.
Okay, then.

We need to see you expand that idea and over lay it to guitars.
1000 words minimum. Cite your work and we will be using software to
make sure you are not cheating.

That needs to be done in a week ready for next Friday Night's Presentation.
I think it could be your Masters Thesis.

TV networks in the 60's. You had three to choose from ABC, CBS,NBC you could choose to watch any one of these any time between 5:00am and midnight. Star Trek came out and gave us something different to watch. Before that it was Batman or Gomer Pyle.

Midnight? 11 pm- that was late local news. Then it was Johnny Carson or nothing (the other two channels either signed off or ran an ancient movie)

That's not a bad idea, actually. The notion applies pretty snugly to PRS and Fender Strats.

However, if I were to bang out a thesis concerning a duality paradigm in popular culture, the precis would be this post from way back, which you might also enjoy.....
