I always wear something "flash!" In '92 I wore a Blue-coat(US version of Red coat>I stole it from the George Washington movie I was an extra in) a bowler, Kiss Destroyer shirt and A childrens ' Casper the Friendly ghost mask! I was going for a Michael Myers +Clockwork Orange feel. I cut the mouth out of the mask so I could sing. It was a bitch seeing through the eye-slits. Drummer+bassist wore jeans +tees. That was cool back in '92 before Slipknot and Buckethead. Nobody was wearing masks back then. I felt a change in my brain when I wore that attire. I liked the Kabuki feel of it!

Nowadays I play in a duo. My drummer wears t-shirt and jeans. I wear either a sharkskin jacket or a crushed purple velvet jacket+ black dress pants+ black and white loafers ala Jimmy Page + Black Flag shirt. I want to feel the role. My fave guitarists always dressed for success. Rory +Kurt could wear tees and flannel. I like to feel like an evil Buddy Holly!

It's more entertaining to watch a band that looks the part. I like good music but I won't have much fun watching an average joe band if the music is the only cool part about it.

All the legendary classic bands that we all know and will remember all put on a good stage show...looking the part is well part of putting on a good stage show. It's not only about the music, if it was there would be a lot more bands singed today that aren't signed currently.

Think of it this way...band x and band y are both playing tonight at a local venue...both have equally good musical ability and songs, one band is as average as it gets but the other band is known for putting on a fantastic show for the crowd there...who do you pick to go see?
