So, what do those of you who play live regularly wear on stage? Do you get dressed up, or just hit it wearing street clothes?

Most of my old bands had an "image", so I wore leather pants, boots, vinyl clothes... Whatever worked! :laugh2:

These days I'm generally a little more reserved.

What about the rest of y'all? :D

When I start playing live, I'm definitely not going up in street clothes. Don't know what yet, but we are a theatrical band and the street clothes on stage just doesn't do it for me :dude:

street clothes all the way, all my clothes are comfortable which means i will have one less thing to distract me from my playing, with the worst case of ADD i've ever come across that is very important. or at least thats what i used to do haven't been in a band for a while, looking to start one back up though.

I usually go with the flannel, jeans, and skate shoes.

Heavy leather or just plain street clothes, preferring street clothing nowadays!

My band goes up in street clothes, but we don't go nutshit about it. I tend to wear dressy-looking shirts by habit, anyway, so I wear those on stage over either a good pair of slacks or a decently kept (none of that worn-faded-looks-like-you-survived-an-avalanche-in-the-Kosciuzko-Street-Sewer-looking) pair of jeans. We're a blues group, so people aren't necessarily coming for our looks, anyway, but we're not exactly going on stage looking like the creatures from the black and blue lagoon, either.

Well I am in my high school's rock band so I am limited or I would go out a bit more...but I typically go safe with straight fit jeans, worn brown leather shoes, either a dark v-neck or half unbuttoned button up...my 2 necklaces and a wristband...hair flowing down...

If I was for real tho I would have to go with a (sorry I know but can't help it) classic GnR type style...I think looking the part is a big deal when performing live. It's part of what puts on a good stage show and thats why people want to watch stuff live.

Wife-beater, pants, and regular steel toe shoes with my hair back and sunglasses on like usual. Street clothes man.

In an old Fifties group I was in, we dressed like 50s "greasers". Slicked back hair, shades, jeans, tee shirt with the pack of Camels rolled up in the sleeve. We were going for the Bowser look.

I couldn't find any photos of me in my old "stagegear", but I'm the guy playing guitar in this video. Dreads, makeup... All of it. :laugh2:

I'm not sure how this video came about. I stumbled upon it on youtube... Kinda by accident. The girl in the beginning's an ex of mine... And as you can hear, there's not a lot of guitar on this studio track, although there was live.

It's still a pretty accurate (And hysterical) record of how I use to look on stage. :thumb:

Generally it's along the lines of this:

I try to be the best-dressed person there, whether I'm playing or not :laugh2: If they don't automatically know I'm in the band while I'm mingling, I've done something wrong. :thumb:

Wearing clothes? Too mainstream. I wear a suit of armor.

No "Stage Clothes" since the eighties. I just don't wear my work clothes. But, have been known to suit up for corporate gigs;
