Hey everyone , I have a special 2 and I was thinking about relocating the pots and switch . I want to take the volume pot out and pup switch out and swap positions having the switch up front were the volume pot is and the volume pot were the switch is . I took the back cover off and honestly it looks like the wiring has plenty of slack to do this without modding it but I was wondering if anyone else has done this or if the holes would have to be modded like one bored out and one narrowed . If the holes are the same I might just do it this weekend . Love the guitar , had to leave my others ( bought this one here in Finland , guess I'll be building up my collection again lol) back in the states when I moved to Europe this past March.

Welcome!

To each his own, I guess, but why would you want your volume pot away from your control hand? To me, that sounds like having a car with a manual transmission, but wanting to relocate the clutch pedal to the ignition switch, and relocating the ignition switch to the location of the clutch pedal. My friend, I'm not putting you down, but I'm curious to know what you expect to gain from this.

Theoretically, it can be done, but you're moving the volume pot so far away from the capacitor, you're going to be losing a LOT of current because the signal has to travel a greater distance, even if you extended the lead for the cap as well. I don't really see it being effective. Just my honest opinion buddy.

Meh. If that was mine I'd gut the whole damned cavity and start over. I'd also go with 2 volumes with a master push/pull on the neck side.

Phil- if he just changes the positions and doesn't change any wiring, then the current path would be the same wouldn't it? (Its early though so I may just have morning confusion. Ha ha)

Well when you look at the thing with the switch were it is and the pots so far apart it just looks odd lol. My old Vantage had the switch in front and both pots side by side and it felt more natural. When i moved here i had to leave all my guitars back in the states , so starting over my collection and this was a great bargin .
