I been using plan old lamp cable for over many years. It works great and one side is always marked to keep things in phase. Hardware store and a low, low price per foot. Northern knows his stuff. Detoxified copper is nuttier than squirrel turds. My buddies went for that and it is so hard to work with. That stuff is stiffer than a wedding richard.

All my cables are custom made by my sound tech friends. They use left-over stuff from studio, stage or club installs and other odds and ends they come across at work. It's always done right and lasts forever. They know the best types/materials for whatever my need is and they don't charge me much either. My home studio is done with digital cable from a TV studio install (Global TV) Super quiet, durable and light weight. I'm spoiled.

You want speaker cables to be short to prevent interference.
That is all.
There is no audible difference between copper, silver or MASSIVE gold wire...
Directional cable's. :thumb:.
All snake oil.

Someone mentioned "twisted pairs" or "twisted cable"...
This is something they use in IT and computers it has exactly ZERO effect on high level/low impedance systems (like guitar amplifiers).

Speaker cable. Just use the same type the cabinet maker uses...and you are ok.
No sense in using a heavier gauge. That would be the same as putting a 2" hose between 2 points in a 1" water system.
The pressure is the same before the 2" piece as behind it.

I told him this in a PM..I guess he didn't trust my opinion...OH well..

Hi Frank, that's not the case, just ask my brother Hrfdez, when there's cork sniffing material, I always like to have second opinion and that's why I asked on the forum and I PM you since I know you are a well respected member here.

You saved me extra money for some GAS/amp material for sure :p

I have one of the Hosa cables mentioned above and am happy with it. The cable and the connectors are noticeably fatter than any guitar cables I've ever seen so there is no way you would get them confused and they are only a few dollars more than making your own.

Okay you convinced me.
I cut the cord off my lamp and twisted the ends with the wire in the amp and speaker. A little masking tape to cover the bare wire and I'm good to go!
Nobody looks back there anyway.

Remind me not to shake hands when you're playing. :D

Now do the same thing except at one end, connect it to a light switch, and mask tape the switch to your mic stand. Instant channel change switch for your 2-channel amp. Trust me, works like a champ if your footswitch breaks in the middle of a session. :thumb:

I love when I was told many moons ago "you gotta use the best (expensive) cable out there to get the best sound". Take a look what is inside a typical cabinet. I sure don't see them fancy cables that are on the other side of the jack going to the speakers.
