He starts off by saying that he's going to the Ochanomizu branch of Ishibashi Finest Guitars to find a nice LP.
At around 1:00, he's showcasing a guitar that was made to order by Finest Guitars, and goes on to say how the guitar is made with specially picked/premium materials. He points out that there are places in the burst where there are extra dark spots, and that normally craftsmen don't do that. Of course Gibson craftsmen are pros and he said that the fact that those spots are there, and to compliment them, the back near the heal and the top of the neck has the same, he thinks that's irresistible.
It's a 2019 model, and it's a 60th anniversary LP model - and the materials used reflect that. The guitar has Luxe capacitors - he then goes on to explain that while Gibsons typically use paper in oil bumblebee caps, but for the Luxe's, while they look like bumblebees, they're more premium in terms of quality and the parts inside. he thinks this is a very huge point because when you use the tone controls, the way the sound comes out changes.
60s neck - he thinks it's much easier to play than say a 58 neck. Even someone that's used to a Fender would easily be able to use this.
Comes with a Delring nut. He says that this also affects tone, so he thinks it's good. Grover nickel tuners. He want.
Pickups - he says that some people say if you remove the covers, the gain and output goes up a bit. He's a bit doubtful as to whether that's the case. He says in any case, the looks of course changes when you have one covered/one uncovered. If it's white, you call it double white, but here it's black. He thinks that it's meant to replicate the looks of a '59 pickup that's had its cover removed.
He said that Jimmy Page removed his in his '70 Royal Albert Hall performance, but subsequently put them back on in '72. In terms of the reasoning, he said it might be for the reason he stated above, but also for looks. But he also wonders if its possible that Jimmy Page changed his pickups around that time as well based on the sound.
He really likes the sound of the middle position - pickups use A3. *proceeds to adjust pickup height* and says that afterwards it sounds more like Page's middle position sound. *proceeds to adjust pole pieces* he thinks it makes it sound more Page-like. It's the same adjustments he makes for his live Mr. Jimmy guitars.
He says that the sound of good pickups will change immediately when you change the height because they respond well. It good.
