To replace the factory Epi ones. Is it DIY job?

Dots? Blocks? what's there now? What do you want to put in?

Not typically what I recommend as a DIY especially considering you had to ask.....

Replacing inlay is not an easy job generally speaking.
Some routs are done flat, so the top has to be carved down to height.

Then there is the issue of finding the right size......no, there are not standard sizes.

A good luthier could surely do the job without removing the frets, but as an amateur myself I wouldn’t even think about trying it. If frets were being removed, and you had access to some decent equipment, and had some woodworking experience, it could be a fun project. I found inlaying on the two scratch guitars I built to be really fun, but I’ve been woodworking for a while.

Allow me to suggest a much more user friendly and affordable solution:

I have a buddy that swears by these things.
