Songs in Open E tuning

I'm working on "She talks to Angels" by The Black Crowes and it is the first song I've played in open E tuning. It's actually really cool and I'm having a great time playing it but I can't see myself retuning my guit every time I want to play one particular song.

So, my question is, what other good/great songs are in open E? (preferably acoustic but I'll take what I can get).

Open E tuning is E, B, E, G#, B, E.

A lot of slide stuff is open tuned. Learn Statesboro Blues, it's easy enough.

Statesboro blues by Blind Willy Mctell was cool. It might take me some time to pull it off. It's not my usual style but I like it.

I've never used a slide but I was inspired enough today to try using a beer bottle. I won't tell you how that worked out for me.

Question: Will leaving my guitar (which is set up to pitch) tuned open affect my intonation or twist my neck up?

I pretty much play in open e all the time and leave it so, I have never had any problems. Oh, and I use 11s, figured you might want to know that.

That song kicks ass. I play it in standard tuning like warren haynes. That's because I'm too lazy too tune up just for that song. The slide bit is a bit harder that way. But I suck nonetheless at it in both tunings so there is another reason for me not retuning

In college in '76, a friend asked me to figure it out for him. I was totally self taught except for a book of chords I had with my first guitar in '73. At that time I was about the best acoustic player around but I knew nothing about alternate tunings. So I figured it out in standard tuning. I knew it didn't sound quite right but at the time didn't know why!

Lot's of Bob Dylan is open e or d.

You can also tune your guitar to open D and capo it up to open E.

You only have to lower the riff on the 5th and 4th string 2 frets down and play the stuff on the 6th string at the same place.

For the acoustic, have a look at Led Zeppelin. There's Bron-Y-Aur Stomp, which is cracking good fun to play. From memory the album version is in F, but that's just a matter of using a capo at the 1st fret. Once you've worked out the parts, ditch the capo and play in E.

There's also Going to California which I think was in D. Again, it's the same tuning two semi-tones lower.

If you're into blusey open playing, check out an Aussie band called The Cruel Sea. They do a lot of tasty but quirky slide work. Good songs, too. To give you a reference, a good easy one to start with would be The Honeymoon is Over. This is in C, which is the same as E but 4 semi-tones lower. Learn it in C and play it in E. Another one of theirs, Delivery Man is in E.

Pink Floyd's Fearless is a great open E tune for an acoustic. That ascending run is a lot of fun to play.

That's the only one I've played though.
