yup, just push it back into place. a tuner on my 03 SG did that maybe a month after I bought it new that year. I pushed it back and it's been rocking solidly ever since.

There are little tabs inside that hold the back in place. Not sure if there's a way to remedy that. If memory serves me well, those tabs are pretty easy to break as well.

Most likely you'll have to remove it from the guitar to bend those tabs tight again if they haven't broken off. And then again, sometimes bending them to fix it finishes them off. Best of luck with that!

That will snap back into place. Not to worry.

Loosen the string a bit while pushing the back flush with the assembly.

It should go back together. When you tune that string, hold the back in place so it doesn't lift as tension is added.

Would now be a good time to complain about the quality of tuners Henry ships on his flagship guitars? The stamped Klusons are basically garbage.

Agreed. Aftermarket tuners of choice would likely be the best solution.

Try your limited lifetime warranty out. Call Gibson about it.

If you take the tuner off the guitar you should see two tabs that hold the cover over the worm/gear.

You could take the tuner,
lay it flat on a stable surface like in the pic, and use a punch or a tool of some type that cover's that small tab and carefully tap on the tab ends to try and flatten/tighten it against the base plate. Make sure the cover is sitting flush onto the base plate before you try tightening the tabs.

Guessing on this part...If you need to support the parts of the base that the tabs are over you may need to find something thin enough to slide under the base plate(And around/next to the cover)and support where the tabs are located. Before you try and tap/tighten the tabs.(Crude drawing here:D)

Chasen posted some good advice, if you're up for taking it off and having a look. The warranty route might be something to do as well, but that just gets you another crappy tuner.

Best to get a quality set of tuners and be done with it, imo. I'm looking to replace my Klusons too.

NEW Hipshot 3x3 Satin Chrome Grip Lock Locking Tuners | eBay

I've become a huge fan of hipshot product, the build quality, for the price is excellent.

Dude, those are the best, and you can buy acrylic keystone buttons for them for $10!

Incidentally, HipShot and Grover buttons are interchangeable, so that means you can also put the aforementioned keystone buttons on any Grovers you've got, maintaining that traditional LP look...

Well then you're looking at either contacting Gibson for a warranty issue or Buying new tuner's.

Just curious is this the side that's popping up?

The head of that rivet look's like it didn't get a good "hit or punch" to set it correctly or the hole for it looks slightly larger than it should be when compared to the other.
At least to me anyway.
