Well guys, you've got me drinking the damn aged parts kool-aid now with all those hot looking Historics with the vintage parts added.

I recently purchased a few items for the R8, I got a set of the aged M69 Rings, I got the cheap ones but I tell you they look pretty damn good. These were Montreuse rings, I think they were $130 a set. Also got the aged coarse knurled pokerchip nut and aged pickguard bracket (Vintage Clone).

Then I ordered an aged ABR bridge (wireless) with posts and wheels, really looks slick, very authentic. It's a Fatboy I believe and I got a thinner and aged pokerchip ring with a very nice tip that looks correct and an aged jackplate hardware set, the aged screws and a washer and nut too. I didn't get the jackplate itself in but I have one on order and I need to order a pickguard.

I'm probably not going to do the TRC, but I may end up adding some aged tuner tips. I think that'll make her about as vintage as I can get. Oh yea, I did get a set or two of aged knobs, they look WAY better than the Historics, they have that soft edge on the top and although they are not dead on accurate as far as the height of the internal splined shaft hole they do look correct upside down and when you look at them anywhere except dead on sideways and you can see the post a little higher than it should be above the gold paint. They were cheap, like $12 bucks a set or something. Good enough for me. A good friend had given me a set of aged volume and tone pointers so they're on there too.

Those OTP PAF's that I won here on the Reeves charity raffle started it all and I really like the look. Funny, my wife and probably most other people would never notice the changes I made.

OK, here's a few pics:

Hey Artie,

I already did that. I got some SS bolts and put them on the R8 and R9. I didn't drill the holes deeper I just used a longer post of SS and torqued it down as far as it would go then cut off the head to the right height on the R8. On the R9 I left the head on and cut the stud the right length so the head of the screw holds down the bridge so it doesn't rock any.

Hey Jon,

I got the ABR, pickguard bracket and toggle switch nut from Montreux. I sent them an email as the website didn't have an order form. They forwarded it to [email protected]. He hooked me up with the ABR, nut and bracket and then confirmed that he had a set of the Vintage Clone M69 rings, they are made of stiff plastic like the Historics but are aged perfectly and look exactly like a real M69, they just aren't flexible like the real things but they were only $130 a set for aged or $120 a set for non aged.

The knobs are FatBoy Guitar Parts and the poker chips is too.

It looks there's there's no slots in the bridge saddles...

Any reason for that?

So you can cut the slots to suit your guitar !!!

Bobbo, not sure what you mean here!

What I meant was it looks like, in this case, Raymond hasn't cut any slots for the strings. I was asking whether perhaps this is the vintage correct way of fitting the bridge, or if there was a reason for opting not to cut any slots or perhaps simply they're cut very shallow and don't show up in the pics?

That's the way the saddles arrive in this ABR, you've got to slot or swap them yourself. I haven't slotted mine yet, I just mounted it up for the foto-op.
