The way I understand it is that minimum advertised priced is the least they can advertise it, such as listed on the showroom floor or website. Gibson does this to make it fair starting ground, and so that the same model guitar isn't listed with prices all over the board.

The first thing that caught my eye is that insanely correct shaded plastic! Even the gf said "Damn no more Barbie!"

don't go by those pics...they're photo-edited.

Wildwood is another dealer who highly photo edits their pics.

This is correct! However, if one calls or sends an email to Dave while asking for a cash price quote, he'll give you a discounted price off from the MAP. I would imagine that many other dealers operate in much the same manner.

minimum advertised price
I don't know what Dave's does to his Pics , But i bought 2 guitars from WW and both looked exactly the same as in the pics (in 2009)

WW will do better on their prices ,but not to much better . Also it's the first of the new models coming out , No Big discounts yet from these guys. Others , I think will be more reasonable .

1 piece board and hide glue in the neck = 800 bump in price . Sounds about right.:wow: The inlays changed last year .

The color of those new backs reminds me a lot of the color found in my former 2001 R8...

Nice looking R9, but not a vintage top.

Here's my Std. Faded:

Looks similar. Great tone and feel too. The BB Pros really sing.
Ok no Historic. But it only did cost me 1.600 bucks, which is about 4 times less.

So if you want a Historic, go ahead and spend 6.000 bucks.
If you want a great sounding guitar, you can get it for much less.

Call Curt!!!!

+1. I followed this advice and now the 2013 R8 below -- which will be my first Lester -- should be at my door by the end of the week. I was turned off by the 2013 prices and had resigned myself to a used 2011 or earlier, but Curt drives a hard bargain. I would recommend that anyone in the market give him a shout.

I think he gets paid each time he mentions them. I know if I had a nickle for every time he did, I'd have more nickles than I knew what to do with..:cool:
