I have started this new thread so we can share ideas,
I believe the solution could be if some one suspects a fake Gibson advertised for sale, then they should first post it on here and the more experienced members can confirm if it is authentic or not, if it is a fake Gibson then it is up to all of us here report it to Ebay and then Gibson. if we make enough noise then we can get more attention to this situation.
I think this is very important! if we don't take a stand now, then the fakes will eventually effect the resale value of authentic Gibson guitars due to consumer fear on the resale market! and then we will all suffer!
Maybe you have a better idea to combat the fake situation,
all your ideas and solutions are welcome

I think that post was a little over-dramatic.

TL;DR: How about we get a thread like the Fake Epi Thread?

I'm pretty sure Gibson will not go out of their way to stop a fake being sold on kijiji or craigslist or a forum like this.

ebay, yes. if its reported enough times it will be pulled.

this does not mean it cant be reposted.

the problem isnt that there are fakes being sold. the problem is there are fakes being bought.

there is a market for these. just like fake designer jeans and handbags

The fakes have been around for 5 years now. Some people are just late to the party. Forum people need to remove the glasses of myopia. Its counterfeiting, plain and simple . It's never going away. Tide laundry detergent, Duracell batteries, all items of clothing, if something can be made it can be counterfeited . And it is. Just question the venue and you will be fine. Fake Rolex watches have been out for over 30 years now. All you need to know is one thing. If it sounds too good to be true , it probably is.

I dont see what contacting Gibson has to do with your 'solution'. Like they are gonna care about some rtard selling a fake guitar on ebay.

Fakes are easy to spot with enough photos. But misrepresentation is not. There is always a price threshold where the buyer will get angst if the parts are not original. I'm talking specifically about pickups. Some suspect PAFs are being sold on ebay, either in vintage guitars or separately. How do you really police this?
