…a 2012 Gibson Les Paul SHREDDER

I picked this up from my local GC today.

It was a train wreck!! All of the Floyd saddles were froze. The neck looked like a ski jump. Everything was loose. Pots we’re cutting out. Jack was cutting out.

I spent A LOT OF TIME bringing this baby back to life!!!

Love the neck on it. It’s like a medium 50s carve.

It has that stupid circuit board crap in it now, I will probably re wire it with CTS pots and a good pair of PIO caps. It currently has 57 classics in it but I think it needs a hotter bridge pickup.

Overall, a really nice playing guitar.

I had one exactly like it.... it was an excellent guitar.... but I was offered a great deal for a trade and it was gone....traded for a CC 28. My Studio Shred and cash.

My favorite thing about that Shred was the Richlite fretboard.... the only guitar I had that had one.

Smooth as glass.

Enjoy

That think is badass as hell, and I don't even necessarily like vibratos. Well done.

And now that I actually have two Les Pauls with the circuit boards, I...don't care. At all. They work and sound just as good as any type of PTP wiring.

I took out the circuit board junk today.

New CTS pots. Russian PIO caps. Seymour Duncan JB in The bridge. Seymour Duncan 59 in the neck.

And I blocked the Floyd for dive only.

HUGE DIFFERENCE!!! HUGE!!!

This baby f****in screams!!!

I would change out the circuit board and pots too, but not because the other stuff is better. CTS pots are no longer anything special at all, but just get used because they're considered standard and the alternatives are also junk (though I'm finding Bourns to be a bit better) and for caps, getting the correct value for your ears dwarfs composition in effect. But! Having a clean, reliable, solid installation that can be worked on with ease is a really good upgrade, and your work looks absolutely stellar (even if you did use that weenie plastic-coated wiring!). I'd swap out those weird pickup rings which seem the wrong height for the pickups, but otherwise, that's a clean, serious guitar. I'm surprised we don't see way more of this configuration. I particularly like the absence of stodgy binding. It really looks like it's begging to be played. Nice!
