2014 Gibson Custom Shop R8 Benchmark Collection - Limited Run Hand-Picked Figured
PRICE

DETAILS
Beautiful bourbon burst R8 with a nice flame and nice grain. As with most Gibson guitars it looks great, plays great and sounds great. It clocks in just under 9 pounds and the neck feels great with an R9-like profile at .87" / .96" at the 1st and 12th frets respectively. This is a Benchmark Collection limited run hand-picked guitar originally selected and sold by Rainbow Guitars. I've included a couple of blurbs below directly from the vendors original sale page of this guitar (along with a link to that page). The only mod that I'm aware of is strap locks. The original pins are included as well as a couple of straps. The R8 comes with the original Custom brown hardshell case, the COA and most of the case candy.
There are a couple of finish issues to note which I've shown in the pictures. One is on the front and it can be seen on the horn just to the right of the pickguard. There is also a little arm wear on the back/top and I've included a close-up pic of it as well. Other than that there is a little bit of light buckle rash on the back and some swirly spots here and there. Don't expect a case queen but do expect a really beautiful guitar that sounds great and plays very nicely.

We started by attempting to get the pickups to closely resemble the tone of what some of our favorite 1958-1960 "PAF" guitars sound like now. By under winding Gibson's new Custom Bucker pickup to a specified spec and comparing it to other guitars with original "PAF" pickups Gibson has brought back the clarity and sweet high end that everyone has been searching for. We also suggested using the TonePros long studs and posts which will give a bit more sustain to this already beautifully sounding guitar. This 1958 Les Paul has a a very tasteful lightly figured had selected maple top. We specified the Bourbon Burst Gloss finish on this guitar to give it the timeless and classic appearance.
As a Benchmark dealer, we have direct access to the Gibson Custom factory and builders, and we hand select materials and instruments to insure the highest standards of quality. As a result, we offer a complete Gibson fan experience through a wide selection of Gibson Custom product, unsurpassed expertise and service that extends above and beyond the ordinary. These instruments are part of very limited runs that are not available outside the Benchmark circle.
