So my wife walks in and nonchalantly informs me she has cancer...

My wife had a basal cell on here nose last December. They did Mohs surgery and got it all.

She's trying not to show it, but my wife is still shaken up, and so am I. I spend half my waking hours trying to keep things right around here, and the other half convincing her that there's nothing to worry about because everything's been kept right. Hands are kinda tied on this one. Not much I can do but support.

Everyone worries, its a natural human condition. We always fear the worse, and we're not specialists in the subject at hand.

Hopefully its all good for you both. Medicine is a marvellous thing these days.

I hope all goes well. My dad has had several spots removed over the years, and I think I have a few small ones on my forearms....I guess I should go get 'em looked at, huh?
Multi-time motocross and supercross champ, and Indy car and off-road truck star Jeff Ward has had several spots removed over the years also.
I think skin cancer is the most common type, often occurring in those who are in the sun a lot, either by choice or for work.

Wishing you good luck and prayers sent.

I have a spot on my cheek
that I know isn't good. I'm in the sun all day for work. Like Dennis, I probably ought to get it looked at.

Best wishes

Wishing both of you the strength to get through this. Cancer sucks, my wife had 6 years of chemo, before her lung cancer went into remission.

Kaiser, Sutter, CHW, UCD?

Kaiser Permanante.

She works part time in the Infertility Clinic. Through that, her and I, my grown son (her stepson) Her two grown children, and their 4 children all have no monthly payment $5 copay $5 prescription medical insurance.

Kinda amazing deal, really...

Oh Jeez...:(

Steve, I"m sorry to hear this.

She just got off the phone with the doctor she works for. He's in Chicago dealing with his own family medical issues but did speak to the dermatologist she saw today, and neither of them are overly concerned over it. Candice seems calm.

It's just that freakin' word... It's giving me shivers. I've dealt with it with family already. Not fun.
