looking up.

the night sky here gives me a natural high. super stoked to be back into photography, super stoked to be alive :)

the night sky here is one of the many reasons i don't mind living an hour away from the next "large town"

i posted this in the madhatter thread, but felt i possibly deserved to be seen by more than those who drop in there. im going back out to take more in a bit.

Taken with a Pentax K10, SMC Pentax-M 50mm F1.4 lens, f/1.4 on bulb with hand trigger, unknown exposure length, approximately 15 seconds.

That is beautiful, if you go for stars in a clear sky! You must live out in the sticks!

whats mind blowing is some of those "stars" are galaxies with billions of stars within it

also, many of those stars are long gone, having died before the dinosaurs were here... the light is just now finally reaching us.

For a non tracked image..... not bad...!

you got dark dust lanes in there, Most of those stars are in out galaxy, the milkyway "cloud" is one of the spiral arms belonging to our galaxy....

The galaxies that are in you image (im sure there are bunch) are much further away.

AC,

What planet do you live on? They have the Internet there? COOL view and NICE bandwidth! Definitely worth the commute!

One question... Did the Dinosaurs eat those galaxies? That would explain a lot about how they ultimately turned to be part of the Oil supply.

Just funnin'

Great sights without light pollution!

That is simply beautiful and being able to do it is far out. Now I'm hungry for a candy bar. Thanks for sharing!

I hope you get something better than a Milky Way! What a disappointment those are. It's like they forgot to put the good stuff in there.

Very cool. If you do longer exposures you can capture the star trails. These were both done with my K10D on burst mode. 50mm lens, both around 10 minutes or so of exposure.
