Congrats on the new job, glad to hear people in our age bracket can still get employment. I'm also a big watch fan... nice choices.

Something about the Sinn stands out to me, so that one gets my vote. Congrats on the new job!

I get watch GAS too. I have no idea why. I just love 'em.

I'd take any of those choices. I do prefer steel bands though.

Many Congratulations on your new job. Good things happen to good people. As for the watches, sorry, but I'm clueless.

Congrats on the new job AND the decision to buy a new watch!
I love watches. All the ones you posted pics of look great, the Mido looks most modern, but they're all very nice.
I was a long-time fan of analog watches until recently. My problem with them is that their functionality is limited. More importantly, I have a collection of watches and some don't see the light of day for months, and I get tired of pulling one out and finding the battery is dead or the whole thing needs to be reset and I have to fish around for the manual. With analog watches you usually have to reset the last day of the month, and those tiny circular dials drive me nuts. Watches eventually get scratched; it's inevitable if you're going to wear one on a regular basis. It's a real heartbreaker when that metal seat belt clip snaps back and permanently dents your $800 timepiece. So you might want to consider something more replaceable. Also, no backlight - glow in the dark is ancient, and the watches with those tiny "light tubes" seem gimmicky and are often found on cheaper watches.

I recently bought 4 or 5 Casio Pro Trek's. There are a lot of style and color options. They are solar-powered and will hold a charge in the dark for over a year, and once set never need resetting. They have a great backlight, and receive the Atomic time signal nightly, which includes daylight savings time. Other features are numerous, and include:

Solar powered
Battery meter
Atomic timekeeping
Auto-backlight - at the flick of the wrist, and only in low lighting (works perfectly)
Day/Month/Day of Month (e.g.; Wed, 3-26)
Altimeter (bar graph)
Barometer (bar graph with 24 hr. audio/visual weather alert mode for approaching bad weather)
Compass
Thermometer
Sunrise/Sunset
Stopwatch
Countdown Timer
World Time
5 daily alarms (one of which has a Snooze function)

They're built to last, are cost-effective to replace if necessary, and once set they require very little adjustment in the future if any at all. Before you unload heavy cash on that prestigious analog watch (great watches that they are) consider some of Casio's latest offerings, such as the:

[ame="http://www.amazon.com/Casio-GW-9400-1CR-Master-Stainless-Steel/dp/B00GFYYKLA/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1458208180&sr=8-2&keywords=G-Shock+Rangeman"]G-Shock Rangeman[/ame] (solar + atomic timekeeping)
[ame="http://www.amazon.com/Casio-PRW-3000-1CR-Protrek-Triple-Multi-Function/dp/B00H3XHK64/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1458208217&sr=8-2&keywords=PRW-3000"]PRW-3000[/ame] (solar + atomic timekeeping)
[ame="http://www.amazon.com/Casio-PRW-3500-1CR-Atomic-Resin-Digital/dp/B00U17VQPA/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1458208217&sr=8-5&keywords=PRW-3000"]PRW-3500[/ame] (solar + atomic timekeeping)
Also consider the [ame="http://www.amazon.com/Casio-PRG-270-1-Protrek-Multifunction-Digital/dp/B00ENCRBO4/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1458209970&sr=8-1&keywords=prg-270"]PRG-270[/ame] (solar, but no atomic timekeeping)
And the [ame="http://www.amazon.com/Casio-PRG-300-1A2CR-Triple-Sensor-Tough-Digital/dp/B010Q44398/ref=sr_1_7?ie=UTF8&qid=1458208217&sr=8-7&keywords=PRW-3000"]PRG-300[/ame] (solar, but no atomic timekeeping)

Again, there are many styles and colors, denoted by the suffixes at the end of the model numbers. A few last considerations are: I found "smart watches" to be a cumbersome hassle and a waste of a lot of money. That includes Apple, Android and GPS watches. They're often buggy, require menu navigation and are so "customizable" that I get tired of setting all the options up and remembering everything. Sure, texts, emails and calls are cool. You can lay music, you can even watch movies on one I had. But in the end they're more hassle than they're worth. An analog watch is a "time-tested" piece of machinery, but they have limited functionality and it's a real disappointment when they get scratched. I find the Casio Pro Trek's to be the perfect match between modern looks, technology, usefulness and cost. Note: if you do consider Casio, I do not recommend the Pathfinder serious, as they have outdated components. Choose a ProTrek model, or the G-Shock Rangeman.

Good luck, and enjoy whichever you choose!

"Timepiece" vs "watch" are two vastly different things...or so I assume, as an outsider.

"Timepiece" usually means expensive, wouldn't you say? I wouldn't consider a $500 watch a "timepiece", myself. But either way they all do pretty much the same thing whether they're $50 or $5,000: they tell you the time, and maybe the date.

I liked the last two but chose the Junghans because of those bevels on the watch face.

All those Casio features I dont need in a watch. My mobile can do it.
If you say every watch does the same. It tells the time. Then there is no reason for no one to spend more than € 20,-- on a watch.
But you can say the same about guitars.
There is no other reason to buy an expensive mechanical watch than "I want it".

Well, yeah. By the same reasoning a Toyota and a BMW will get you to the same destination, but it's about the style and the ride, right? Same with watches I guess. Neither type of watch is necessarily better than the other, in regard to telling time, etc. And there certainly is a lot to be said about craftsmanship, which a digital watch hasn't got. I was just expressing my own view as it's evolved for me. I like all kinds of watches: the whole idea of carrying something so functional and precision on your wrist. It's quite amazing when you think about it. But after owning a few pricey timepieces and seeing them end up marred, I can't bring myself to do it anymore. And like I said, I hate having to change batteries and reset the time, date, etc. But I don't think you could go wrong either way.

As for the "I want it" factor? Hell yeah! And I have to say, the Mido looks rather badass.

You've were laid off recently, finally got a new job after 4 months, and your first thought is to spend thousands of €€€ on an unnecessary luxury item?

I don't get it. You must be rich. I never seem to understand rich people.

Sometimes, appropriate or not, a gal's gotta buy herself somethin' nice. This is one of those times for him. I was in the same spot when I got my Deluxe. I didn't need it, it wasn't necessarily the best time, but I'd been working hard for a long time in my current job and I just needed to get myself somethin' nice.

I am far from beeing rich. But I saved a decent amount of money during the almost 10 years I worked for the old company. And I got good money when they laid me off.
And I been gasing for an automatic chrono already when I was still working on the old job.

My coice was the Sinn 358. Yesterday I wanted to order it. They are asking € 50,-- only for shipping the watch from Germany to Austria. :naughty:
I'm not going to pay this.
Just orderd the Steinhart Nav B-Chrono. Costs half of the Sinn and even looks better. :)

If that was me I'd wait until you actually start the job before pending that money, just in case something goes wrong.

Gratification is sweeter given anticipation.

Idk, man. Lately I've had a preference for the feeling of cash in my pocket, as opposed to buying more stuff. But I'm glad to hear things are looking up for ya.
