Guys i am looking tonight at a slash standard it has no coa but has the headstock logo and case, is there anything to look out for as in it being a fake or did the slash models miss the fakes. what were the serial number format for these?
any help appreciated.
thanks

Got mine back in April of 08. The COA isn't signed it just has the Slash logo on the front so I don't think it's crucial (the my goldtop came w/ a hand-signed COA). The Slash is my first LP purchase and I could go on and on about how great it is. Post pics if you can and check with Gibson on the serial #.:slash:

Looks nice, I'm no sure how good of a bargain it was since I don't know conversion rates to US$ and I don't know how much those guitars go for.

Looks 99% real! Post a pic of the back of the headstock for that extra 1%. Unfortunately there are all kinds of Slash fakes on iOffer but they don't look anywhere near as nice as this one.

It looks like the real deal to me. Have you had a chance to plug it in? Curious how you think it compares to your R0.

It's real; I've owned one!

EDIT: Hang on, ask the seller if he replaced the pickup selector tip for another. The original is supposed to be a vintage amber color.

hi the switch tip has been changed the original got lost. the back of the head stock has serial number 00388xxxx and made in usa all pressed into the wood, its lighter than my R0 and a good bit more acoutics unplugged it must be the weight relief chambers, plugged in its a more modern tone neck feels nice on this very similiar to the R0. were there some inconsistences in production mine seeems to have a darker back like the gold tops? having put it next to my R0 it is original with the fit and finish and playability so i am very happy its a nice guitar at a nice price.
cheers

It looks genuine, and a great looking top, really nice flame. I have one as well, and yes, the back and the neck are very dark, so that is normal. The pups are Seymour Duncan Alnico II Pros, which yours has. The serial number seems right. It is just in the standard Gibson USA format. You can e-mail Gibson to verify that the serial number matches the guitar you have. The letters in the pup cavities would be AV=Anitique Vintage, the finish on the top, and LPSS=Les Paul Slash Signature. Pity about the COA, I got one with mine, but going by threads on the forum, many didn't. The body is weight-relieved via the swiss cheese method (9 holes drilled in the body), not chambered like the 08 Standards.

These are a great guitar, they sound great, play great and with the unique neck profile and the Seymour Duncan pups, offer something different from the regular LP Standard. I think you'll be rapt with it. :thumb:

Cheers, Pete

The back of mine is a has a dark brown finish but you can see the woodgrain, lighter than the my GT. Goldtop = Darkback. Thx for the feedback on the R0, had my eye on one. Looks like a solid purchase!
