I like it, but Gibson can blow it out there behind. I'm not going pay more for a guitar because it has someones name on it. Says the man with a Gary Moore BFG :) - I didn't pay more than other BFG..
I also understand that the artist needs to be paid and I like Slash..
I paid the same amount for my 2022 Slash GLP as I did my Standard 2021 from Sweetwater. all you have to do is ask.

I've already said it on here but I will say it again: I absolutely love my Slash. So much so, I sold my R8 because I stopped playing it after I got this one. I got her from Wildwood and it is perfect in every way. My opinion is don't listen to those that are saying bad thing because I bet they haven't played one. I feel like it is the best non-Custom Shop Gibson I've ever played or owned. Cheers all! Here she is: View attachment 480647
you and me both. My '22 Slash is the best Guitar I've ever owned in 40 years.

Okay, so AMS and zZounds have a exclusive run of Standard ‘50s and ‘60s with AAA tops that currently go for $2,699, but I think it dropped from $2,799. Wildwoods special AAA runs are still $2,799. So if we’re comparing apples to apples, the difference in price for the Slash signature really is about $200 to $300, not $500.

As for the weight, I do think Gibson is using the lightest blanks to make Slash models. You still find 9lbs and 10lbs Slash. But I’m having a much easier time finding sub 9lbs Slash Standards. You do find sub 9lbs Standards, but those are harder to find. My Slash Standard is 8lbs 11.1oz which is less than what my R9 weighs. After I got my Slash Standard, I saw Wildwoods had one that weighed 8.1lbs and CME still has a Vermilion listed going for 8.5lbs that I think haven’t sold yet because of the lighter edges.

The whole neck profile difference thing where you had Austin from Trogly’s guitar show claiming that the neck is between a ‘50s and a ‘60s is an absolute lie. I own both a Standard ‘50s and a Slash Standard. Both necks are pretty similar, if anything the neck on my Slash Standard is a hair thicker.

The selling points for me were 1) addiction to LPs, 2) the lighter weight, 3) financing option, 4) looks, and 5) Sweetwater demo savings discount. Mine has a small delamination in the binding that do not affect how the guitar plays and put the price bellow those AMS/zZounds AAA standards.

I got the guitar thinking I might swap the pickups, for I usually prefer lower output vintage style humbuckers. I actually have a set of uncovered BK the Mule I thought I’d use on my Slash Standard. The moment I plugged my Slash Standard and turned up the volume I thought “nope I’m not changing anything on it.” It’s crazy resonant and dynamic and sounds amazing so I’m not touching those pickups for now.

Like most Gibson USAs, the action at the nut was a bit high. Not to the point that made impossible to intonate, but enough to make me give the guitar a good setup. I was already impressed with the guitar, but after I set the guitar up I was absolutely and completely blown away by it.
I think Wildwood AAA are 2999.99

I'm just interested to hear what people think of the 2020 Les Paul Slash series, this one linked is sharp in November Burst. Do you like the black pickups?

If that's what u like go for it! Personally, I would get a regular Standard and spend the extra scratch on something else. I played a Slash model before eventually purchasing a regular Standard. The Slash model I played wasn't all that great feeling and I really didn't like the color (at first I thought I did). The green one I was looking at buying in GC really looked odd with its light colored fretboard. To me, anything other than a jet black fretboard looks odd against that green (I know you're not looking for a green one). The one I was looking at had a brownish board that really looked odd and stood out against the deep green color of the guitar. Almost looked like a Pau Ferro board. If I had found one with a really black fretboard, I probably would have bought it.

I love everything about them. Definitely the midrange “oomph!”
