The DC10 by Phaez can use any big bottle. (Daisy Cutter 10w)

+1 on that recommendation, or Randy could custom build one for you, maybe in the vein of a single ended KT66 JTM based circuit since you are so fond of the JTM 45? :thumb:

+2 on the 10 watt DC, best amp I've played, although I haven't tried it with a KT66 yet. But it's on my shortlist of things to do.

It quickly made my old Marshall Studio 15 redundant, and that was a good amp.

One of my favorite tubes in my Emery Superbaby. I like it with a soft 5Y3 or 5R4 recitfier. Into a nice pine 1x12 with a G12h30 it is very very nice.

Thanks Twang. I am looking at options. I love KT66 tubes. My Budda is amazing, but I can't push it to the sweet spot without driving everyone nuts.

I need low power KT66.

What did you have in mind? :)

If money is no object, the Fargen Mini-Plex can take KT66/KT77 tubes, along with pretty much any other octal power tube. I've been GAS'ing for one hard for awhile.

I'm guessing that you have the SD45.
Have you tried an attenuator?

I just bought an SD45 2x12 combo. Being shipped to me next week.
I was hoping to find a good affordable attenuator to use with it.

Hit up TuyaCustom. He has a Phaez amp that is single ended and takes KT66 that he is trying to sell.

Yes, It is the SD45. I use the THD Hotplate. I would prefer an amp that doesn't need an attenuator. I may even sell the Hotplate to help fund a new amplifier.

Thanks guys for all the suggestions. That Fargen looks nice, and they now have a dealer here in Canada.
I wrote to Phaez, I am now waiting on a reply.

The Phaez is a great option. The only other one that comes to mind is the THD Univalve.

Ran across Emerys once before. I drooled then, and i'll drool now.

The prices aren't insane like most of the "artsy" amps are, but i've no idea how they sound.

How do they sound? Like you want them to. Tube them like a Champ and play into a small Alnico. Tube like a Marshall, EL34/KT66/6L6, play into a nice G12H30 or Greenback, hell blast a 4x12, it'll do it. Like KT77/88 tubes, maybe 6550 tubes? Big bottle 6L6's? Small 5881 or 6L6GWB's? I've got them all.

Point is, swap pre tubes like any other amp. But swap power tubes like few other amps. Almost any rectifier will work. I have RCA 5Y3, RCA 5R4, Mullard GZ34 and a couple of newish 5AR4's. You can make this amp as tight or loose as you like. A 5Y3 and an EL34 is swampy loose Brit heaven. A 50 year old 6L6G Coke bottle and a 5R4 into a Weber 12F150 kills.

Very simple point to point (no turret boards) construction with top notch parts. I never use the tone circuit. Super insane touch sensitive, 6-12 watts depending on tubes. It's gone tone, not knobs.

Very clear very articulate. The sound swirls with a good cab and speaker. I like open back oversize pine. It isn't a small high gain amp. It won't do what many Phaez amps do right out of the box as it isn't that circuit. It also isn't a one trick pony.

It creates a great base for pedals when low volume is needed. When you can open it up the natural breakup is sensational in a Tweed/Blackface/JTM kind of way. Tubes and speakers set pave the way. My favorite speakers are Hellatone 30 (G12H30) and a Weber 12F150. I have others, these stand out.

I think for the price it is a killer deal and better than many at the same price. Check out the Superbaby specs on the website 'cause if like me you couldn't decide on an amp this fills the role of a few.
