Best? REALLY hard to answer. . .

My personal favorite are the GHS Boomers David Gilmour Signature 10.5-50 followed closely by GHS Boomers 10-52

I like these on just about every electric guitar including my 3 Gibson Les Pauls and my 2 other brand Les Paul style guitars:

I use DAddario on everything - Les Paul scale gets 10s, I vastly prefer the pure nickel wrap, but no one ever has them in stock so I usually just use the nickel wound.

These are worth the extra money, IMO anyway.

For a guitar set up for rock and roll I like the elixir electric strings; both the nano and poly web.

Best? You have to be joking. There are countless threads showing you how rubber bands mixed with twine are the best for every different type of style. I sell them for $60.00 so lmk if you want them......

In all seriousness get the string deal at GC and try out a few different sets, what may be great to everybody you may hate.

I typically use ernie ball cobalt 11s but felt like switching to light top heavy bottoms so when in my local music store, I got a couple sets of the standard ernie balls in 10-52. Prefer the Cobalts, but worth supporting the mom and pop music store. Better than amazon. :thumb:

You must have gotten a bad set or something. I use Blue Steels and simply couldn't be happier with them. Haven't noticed any issues with recent sets either.

I prefer pure nickel strings. Right now I am using DR Pure Blues 10-46. I also like Gibson Vintage Reissue 10-46 and Fender Bullets 10-46. When I try new strings, I install them, stretch them and then record a couple of songs, make a note of the setting for the recording and the date I installed the strings. I then use them until they lose their tone and note how long of life I get from them. When I want to compare different strings, I listen to the recordings I made. I just started doing this so I don't really have any answers yet.
