There was a proper 25th anniversary 1977 custom that is silver that was commissioned by Guitar Center. I believe this is what you are remembering. Very cool guitars.

I do remember these. I think they were the 25th anniversary of the Les Paul's first introduction in 1952. What I think I seem to remember about the Silverbursts was they were specific to Les Paul Customs. From looking through the posts I am probably mistaken but that's what my teenage memory was from 1979.

Either way I am glad I finally got one. Spent about 4 hours with it yesterday and it was like bringing back my youth, since I spent most of it playing a 77 LPC.

When I got mine, I almost opted for a Tobacco-Burst color. The fellow at LaSalle's Music (West Hartford, CT) told me about something "relatively" new - Silverburst. I switched to it - and have never looked back.

If the guy at the store was correct, the timetables seem to match up with what I am reading.
