Wow those are bad.
I know eh..? What are people thinking? The worst thing is, with kijiji I don't even know who to report it too. Maybe I should make a posting on there saying 'beware of Chinese fakes'... Hmm.

The big G won't do much. They'll email the guy and he'll duck and post again with another email address.

Kijiji can't do much because they offer the service of posting used items for sale free of charge... All I can do is warn the locals not to buy that crap. The worst thing is that I've sold Les Pauls on there with my account and I'd hate for the people of Calgary to think I'm just trying to force them into buying my shit instead of what is clearly the 'better deal'. :(

Not sure what to do with this one.

I just submitted an ad saying 'Buyer Beware'. No direct links to anything other than this site, in case anybody has any questions.

Takes a few hours to show up though, and this ad is already on page 2. I hope nobody is dumb enough to fall for it. I know plenty of kids who would think 'Holy crap! A Custom for $1600!! Mom, Dad... Give me money quick!!'

Oy. :(

Me too. I know how much that first Les Paul can mean to somebody who really cares about buying a guitar, and it is always so tempting when you see a 'good deal' that you might be blind to the obvious...

I posted a link to this site, so I'm hoping some people actually take the time to check it out before making an offer on Chinese fakes.

Deals are out there though... I got a Standard for $300 at a pawn shop and the other guy in my band got a Custom for $350... Gotta dig hard for the real deal though, and a score like that is one in a million.

I sent the seller an email,

"You know you're selling fake Gibson's right? Those are poorly made clones of Gibson's"

Don't be surprised if you get a response saying 'Hello. I am in England. You can view the item if you send me money.' Or a daily subscription to viagra ads.

:thumb:

I gave up on emailing those guys, unless it's from my gmail... Gmail catches most of the junk. :thumb:

You should have emailed him saying you're interested in seeing the guitars but will only do a local deal. Find out where he lives, go over there and kick him in the nuts. :thumb:

That's why I used an email address from an account I made SPECIFICALLY for doing that.

I never check it, I never download the messages to my computer, I just use the account to send emails to people like that.

I've actually caught a couple scams on kijiji like that... They will give a real address but they won't actually be the ones living there... Unless this guy is a scammer living in Calgary... Hard to say.

I tried to buy a Macbook a few months ago from a guy who gave me an address so I could go check it out, so I showed up at the agreed time and it was some old lady's house who had no idea what I was talking about... I emailed the guy back and started getting junk mails and offers in reply from the address... Bastards.

:D :D :D

Thank you~

If they do actually check their emails, Stuff like that will annoy the crap out of them.

If they get pissed off and try to spam me,

What do I care, I never use that email. :D

I am fairly new to to the Les Pauls, but what did you spot that looked fake? The knob placement seems right, I dont know what your seeing?
I see on the burst one, the tailpiece looks crooked, is that one of the flaws? It appears there are no "nibs" on the necks?
I dont get it, what am I missing?
