Ok. It is always fun to show off yer Strat!
I had this in a previous post, but its a fun guitar , so here it is
A mid Eighties '62 reissue. I love Rosewood and have a hard time with Maple boards, so it took me almost twenty years to find a Fender I liked. Really. I played Ibanez and Gibsons, and Guilds for years, but could not find A Fender that spoke to me, until I picked this one up used in '93. I could not believe it, suddenly, wow, there it was, the Fender I had always wanted.
For some unknown reason, I took to modding it, Five way switch, etc. I created an EMG package with a tonal expander and mid boost dial. It later was marketed by EMG as the David Gilmore setup. Who knew? I just chased the sound until I got what I wanted and it led me there.
Funny too, at the time folks were saying I played like Gilmore. I admire him, but had only played one Gilmore song in my life, "There's No Way Out Of Here". People liked to add my leads to their mixes at my studio. Yeah, I had a sixteen track ADAT studio back then too.
I lent the Guitar out to a couple of friends, it stayed away a year or two at a time. One guy cut an album with it. The frets are fairly low now, I use 11's and torque the trem tight to the top with five springs. I really do not use trem, so the trem bar rarely goes on.
I like the resonance that the five springs give. Kinda like a built in reverb. I think this method works better than a hard tail.
Mother of Toilet seat RULES!
