I loved this finish when I first saw them but it was waaaay outa my price range.
I stumbled across this one on eBay (!) a few years later. It was relatively close to me and in pretty much mint condition. The original owner was a guy who primarily plays bass and wasn't using it so he wanted to sell. There's a slight mark in the finish on the back of the headstock where he'd had a tuner clipped on but otherwise it was pristine. I guess I paid about half the original street price for a '14 Premium Quilt Standard and it came with the original outer box and dealer papers as well as the case.
I thought it was great when I saw it -- but it wasn't until I got it home and really looked at it that I realised just what a stunning one-off top it has!
1974 Les Paul Standard, purchased new in '74 at Music Manor in Fort Wayne, Indiana. When Gibson started offering humbucker-equipped Les Pauls on special order, this store got quite a few of them. I was there one day when the UPS truck brought about five of them.
