Dug out the NIKKOR glass after seeing the shortcomings of the cheap DX lenses that came with my first DSLR body. Shot on manual since the legacy glass and body don't talk.

Wow, that aqua blue '14 top is unbelievable. How did you snag that one?
Thanks! Honestly, it was blind luck...!!

I loved this finish when I first saw them but it was waaaay outa my price range.

I stumbled across this one on eBay (!) a few years later. It was relatively close to me and in pretty much mint condition. The original owner was a guy who primarily plays bass and wasn't using it so he wanted to sell. There's a slight mark in the finish on the back of the headstock where he'd had a tuner clipped on but otherwise it was pristine. I guess I paid about half the original street price for a '14 Premium Quilt Standard and it came with the original outer box and dealer papers as well as the case.

I thought it was great when I saw it -- but it wasn't until I got it home and really looked at it that I realised just what a stunning one-off top it has!

1974 Les Paul Standard, purchased new in '74 at Music Manor in Fort Wayne, Indiana. When Gibson started offering humbucker-equipped Les Pauls on special order, this store got quite a few of them. I was there one day when the UPS truck brought about five of them.
