I don't get to contribute much. My wife has asked that I stop coming here and go back to looking at porn.

Appears the OLP forum is costing her too much money. :thumb:

I joined but lurked observing comments and picking up info.
Bought a LS 80 and an OBG Junior from a member. These guitars embodided all that was good about vintage Gibsons.
A member posted a section on neck specs on vintage MIJ that inspired me to get a caliper and see what my specs were.
Since then I have had two Custom built Heritage guitars that the necks were speced off that info and BOTB.
I own a few MIJ classic guitars, and some vintage US guitars, but I like coming here and living vicariously thru the purchases of others.
Thats alot cheaper and there is some funny irreverent MFs here that keep me laffing.

OK this in in a similar vein to the MIJ bargain thread discussion.

People here have worked very hard to learn all there is to learn about MIJs and buying from Japan.

When I signed up for this forum I spent a lot of time also reading many, many threads, asking some members questions via PMs and gradually growing my knowledge. And I'm still learning.

However I'd like to think that myself and others here actually CONTRIBUTE to discussions and to this community of MIJ and Replica Les Paul players.

Therefore, should we be making it so easy for others to just use the knowledge we spent so much time attaining? We have seen how often the lurkers outnumber members here in this forum. Why should we spell it out so easily for them to outbid us on MIJ auctions?

The info is all there, for free and I dont mind that but geez... at least make lurkers trawl through 50 pages of Greco or Tokai discussuions like we all had to rather than just lay it all bare.

At the moment, it seems that we are not only identifying great guitars for sale with links.... we post instructions on how to buy them too. And then some complain that prices are getting pushed up. Well it seems we are just working against our own interests.

I'm not looking to withhold information, but I feel that those who benefit from such acquired knowledge should also contribute to this community.

Discuss......

You should have applied for one of those MOD jobs when MLP was recently recruiting.

I "wipe" their minds of useful info, one FEZZ post kills 39% of your guitar sense. I say LET THEM LURK!
