OK this in in a similar vein to the MIJ bargain thread discussion.
People here have worked very hard to learn all there is to learn about MIJs and buying from Japan.
When I signed up for this forum I spent a lot of time also reading many, many threads, asking some members questions via PMs and gradually growing my knowledge. And I'm still learning.
However I'd like to think that myself and others here actually CONTRIBUTE to discussions and to this community of MIJ and Replica Les Paul players.
Therefore, should we be making it so easy for others to just use the knowledge we spent so much time attaining? We have seen how often the lurkers outnumber members here in this forum. Why should we spell it out so easily for them to outbid us on MIJ auctions?
The info is all there, for free and I dont mind that but geez... at least make lurkers trawl through 50 pages of Greco or Tokai discussuions like we all had to rather than just lay it all bare.
At the moment, it seems that we are not only identifying great guitars for sale with links.... we post instructions on how to buy them too. And then some complain that prices are getting pushed up. Well it seems we are just working against our own interests.
I'm not looking to withhold information, but I feel that those who benefit from such acquired knowledge should also contribute to this community.
