Ok, so this morning I’ve started my regular guitar maintenance (it’s Epiphone Zakk Wylde Les Paul), polishing, string changing, fretboard conditioning…
The guitar itself is pretty new, bought it in December 2010, it’s MIC, and it’s legit, not a fake one (bought it from an authorized dealer).

So, anyway, I removed the neck pickup to clean the body under the pickup ring, and what do I see… :wow:
The neck joint have like huge gap between neck and body at the lower horn , I mean, isn’t this supposed to be centered?

Take a look at photos attached, guess there’s a lot of wood around the neck at upper part, but down at the cutaway, there’s that gap.

So just your regular opinions, has anybody have similar neck joint issue?
Should I try to return guitar, they’re pretty rare and well, let’s say a little expensive over here in Serbia?

Other than this, the guitar itself is pretty good, heavy as hell, and it plays pretty good too.

Thanks

:D Thanks.

Eh, you would think that for 630 Euros things like this wouldn't happen...

Bah, all in all, I'm pretty pleased with it, and as long as this gap doesn't cause me some serious issues, I'm gonna stick with it for a long time :dude:

I have 3 Epi LP's and of course they are all made in China.... but no cracks! .......If that's accepted as "normal"... what else should be accepted as "normal" or an acceptable standard... Broke is Broke.... A crack like that should be repaird in my opnion.. but if your happy with it and can accept it.... all is well for your but for me I would be screaming!!

1) it's an epi, what do you expect?

2) if it plays well and sounds good, does it matter?

Don't get me wrong but:

1) Yes it's an epi, but I have far more cheaper guitars that are made without any cracks and gaps like this, so yeah, I do expect a little bit better job than this, especially around the neck joint.

2) as I've said, I do keep on holding one to this one, it plays and sounds great, so if someone tells me something like "Oh man, this gap is affecting your sound, yada, yada", well my answer would be - so what, but I don't wont my neck separated from body anytime soon.

So that's my main concern, not sound, but durability over the years :)

Epis are made by people who get paid pennies a day. There will be incongruities such as gaps in the neck joint. If it were a gibby it would be a different matter. I wouldn't worry about it at all.

It's not a gibson, so theres no need to compare it to one....Why even drop the Gibson name in an Epi thread?

.......and it would cost 3000 instead of 600 :hmm:

Cork sniffer, whatever. I play an Epi and a Godin and I prefer Epi over Gibson. I'm comparing the build quality of an Epi to the build quality of a Gibson. You can't expect the same build quality of a $500 guitar built by someone making 38 cents a day to the build quality of a $2500 guitar built by a guy making $50,000 a year (I have no idea what they get paid, just making a point). In the end the only thing that matters is how it sounds. If you like the way it sounds, then who cares if there's a gap in the neck joint.

Agreed, and Gibson isn't exactly without sin either, are they?
matter of fact i get more compliments on my epi '56 goldtop than any other guitar i've gigged. :hmm::shock::thumb:

Where did you buy the guitar?

In one of the local shops over here at Belgrade/Serbia called Lyra Style.
They are pretty ok I guess, and I have nothing to complain when it comes to them, I've checked the guitar both here and with official Epiphone dealer, and the guitar is legit, not a fake.
