SG Confusion: 1963, 1964 and "The Fool SG"

The vintage 64 SG Special I am considering buying has 5 screws on the pick guard. Is this not right? I was told the guitar is 100% original...

Sorry to join this debate so late, but the recent Vintage Guitar pointed me here.

My (I'm quite sure genuine) first-gen SG has seven screws on the pickguard, with the 7th in the middle on the bottom. I bought it third hand in 1969. It's a factory Bigsby, like Mick Taylor's on Get Ya-Ya-s Out, but his does not appear to have the 7th screw (hard to tell from photos).

So what's the deal with that? What year do you think this is?

YOu have a picture of it? What year is it? What model of SG is it? You haven't given much info to go off.
