Just get them!

Because I Pre ordered mine, I have set # 0025 and still some of the most detailed pickups I have played through. Great Set.

What difference would these make on my les paul custom, black beauty circa 2009?

Feeling another attack of gas coming on ...

Pretty hard to answer that. But, out of 10 guitars, the Bonamassa's are still my favorite pups. Even a little better than the Whole Lotta Humbuckers I have in another. The Bonamassa's always sound good, no matter what effects I'm using or what song I'm playing. I don't use them for everything because I like to spread the love around. But no matter how many new toys I buy, they always come out on top by a pinch. I'd say SD and MJ got these right.

Bought and fitted myself. It's too late for loud but right away there is a significant difference, there seems more clarity somehow.... More to follow tomorrow......

Hmm.... Certainly clear, They still demand a good at volume workout but I'm concerned they are not as warm as I'd hoped for, may need to spend some time dialling my amp. I'm finding them a bit clinical. What would be the effect of a dry solder joint on either pup at the signal feed or the earth?

Do you mean a "cold" solder joint, That could be cracked....Re-heat.

If your amp settings are the same from your previous pickup set, then I would imagine that there would be a difference, I find my set to be very colorful and articulate at any setting. I would fix the solder and see if amp settings are in need of adjustment. Of course your ear was used to that last set.

Clinical....hmmmm. thats an interesting descriptor of tone....

^^^ as poster cheopis states above "ice pick"... I might just need to wind the bridge pup down a bit.

Lowered the height a good bit.... Still not as warm as I'd have liked, Today will be a good test. Loud and straight in to my mesa lonestar special.

You can install them, but they are 2 conductor, so you can't use the push/pull functions. But they didn't have that back in 1959, anyway.
