Seventies LP Specials ?

Hi all - just joined up and am looking for some info. In the early '80s I bought what I think was a '70s reissue of a LP Special. It was single cut with two P90s (I think), and was an orange to brown sunburst. I deeply regret ever selling it, and have been looking around the net (Ebay etc), but can't find much information on these, only about the original Specials & Juniors, and the '90s and up re-issues. Does anyone know anything about these, or know of any available anywhere ?

Same colour as the one in this pic, but a single cut rather than a double.

sure, they come up for sale quite often, keep an eye on Ebay. Just at a guess I think you're looking at $1K-1.5K.
"74 to '78(?) IIRC, the '74 (and maybe '75) came with a wraptail, then they added the bridge, which takes away from the 'reissue' part. I'm pretty sure they had a fairly thin neck too, which again takes away from it being a 'reissue'.

Nice guitars though, I've always liked them.

According to the Bacon & Day Les Paul book:

Single Cut "55" Special
Produced in 1974 and 1977-80. Some early ones have a wrap over bridge, majority have the 6 saddle TOM as in your picture. Available in Sunburst or colours. Early examples have plastic tuner buttons.

No shipping figures available for 1980 or later production.

You're right there Liam, that is a trifle over the top, but I really appreciate you pointing me towards that - Captain, I sincerely hope you don't mind me using the pic of your couch, I just couldn't resist....
